What headphones do you use with you Nord?

I love my Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro - They are 250 ohm, but I have no problem using these with my Nord Stage 2, more than load enough for me.
Excellent sound, and you can wear them for hours without strain.

You don’t have to use an amp to power those? You are running them straight out of the Nord Stage 2? I actually ordered those before I realized they were the 250 ohm instead of 80 ohm. I’m wondering if Nord Piano 5 can power those, or if I should just pick up an amp at this point. Or send back and pick up the 80 or 32 ohm models.

Never used an amp. Strait out of the Nord - More than enough power on my Nord Stage 2 and Nord Electro 6 HP.

There should be a pair of 80Ohm DT-770’s under the tree this year. I’ll let you know in a few days.

For the past several years, I’ve been using ATH-M40x which have been great. I think they’re 30 Ohm.

Looking forward to the Beyers though.

I remember that when i tested all 3 of them the 32 the 80 and 250 ohms.. that 250 ohms needed amp

The 80 ohms was ok but for me i still needed more volume to be ok.. the 32 ohm was loud had enough volume but it had less quality and clearance and transparency in sound compared to the 80 ones.

I tested them on stage 3 and on nord grand.. nord grand has lower power than stage 3 at the headphone output.. i dont know if piano 5 has higher volume headphone output…

for the 250 ohm at the end i drive them through rupert neve designs rnhp headphone amp and the result was the best and amazing ofc.

I ended up having the 80 ohm ones which im not fully satisfied when using them with my nord grand because i sold stage 3 and nord grand has lower volume headphone output..

I use them for other purposes also watching movies playing videogames etc

Thanks everyone for the informative responses. All helped me make a decision. I wanted some open headphones and ended up going with Sennheiser HD599s. They’re 62 ohm which should be more than fine with the NP5.

Adding another vote for the Audio Technica ATH-M50x. I haven't tried any others to compare against, but I use these headphones when I'm doing quiet practice on piano (through my Nord Piano 5), and when doing quiet practice on guitar (through my Line 6 Helix). There might be better options out there, but the dollar-to-value ratio seems pretty good with these headphones.

I personally never found the 7506s to be comfortable enough for extended use. They were the first high-quality headphones I ever owned and they opened up my ears to what higher quality sound was... but they would literally leave the tops of my ears in pain after an hour or two from them pressing too much.

Very wise, the HD599 are also good cause they have a detachable cable on the left side only, no both sides. Great ones are the HD560S too. Cheap ones but also fine are the Samson SR850 ( they're even more comfortable since they don't clap head so hard and are only 32 ohms)
