How to create new program based on sample in sample library?

Post by marka123 »

Hi all,

Simply stated, I'm trying to figure out how to create a program on my stage 2 ex based on a sample that is in my sample library, but not used by any existing programs. I can see the sample I want to use in Nord sound manager... but can't figure out how to either link it to a program using sound manager... or how to access the sample on the instrument and create a new (and playable) program on the instrument. Any links to video tutorials and/or sections of the user manual that address this would be kindly appreciated.

Thanks!!!
Mark

MyKeysToMusic must have videos that answers your question.

Assuming the sample is named "MarkSample" and is in sample slot #55.
Create an empty program, say in B:03:2.
Turn the Synth Engine On and turn the volume knob to the max (master volume up too).
Turn the selection knob to Sample (selection 6 down right) and with the other knob, select 55.
Play !

I would add a step after creating the Empty Program: do a Synth Init (to initialize the program to be based on Synth section, so also effects are pre-assigned to it, even if switched off, but you may want to add them) and/or a Sound Init on the Synth section.

To the OP: even if there are good video tutorials, I recommend you to study the NS2 manual (all of it, end to end, is not a big one compared to other keyboards) and then focus on Synth Section in particular; it explains all you need to know about your NS2, including definition of what Programs and Samples are in NS2 architecture and how to Init the Synth and use the Samples as Osc waveforms (which is only the beginning, in most cases you may then want to alter them with filter, envelopes, effects.... that's why you need to know all of your NS2).
