Sustain Pedal function on some keys

Hi, I just got a new Electro 6D today and I noticed, that in the piano samples on the highest 6 or 7 keys is always the sustain pedal function on.

(I updated already on the latest OS and have done a factory reset, but nothing has changed)

Any advice or idea ?

There are no dampers on the uppermost keys of a real acoustic piano so that is correct and expected behavior. Everything is working just fine!

This is relevant because every piano technician, including your present writer, has had to reassure countless panicked piano owners that the ringing notes at the top end of their pianos are normal. This is because the notes in the highest treble register of a piano have no dampers (roughly the top octave-and-a-half, or about 18-22 notes). Which note has the last damper varies from piano to piano, and depends on the piano’s size and the arrangement of wires from thickest and longest, to shortest and thinnest (known as “scaling” in piano technician’s parlance)."

(Interestingly, I have not observed this with other current stage pianos such as Yamaha CP or Korg SV)

Your question has come up here (and other places) before. According to this Reddit thread, a user noticed the same thing about the SV-2:


"So I just got an SV-2 and I love it so far. Question is about the sustain on the higher a section of the keyboard. It seems that around G6 or so give or take on various piano samples that the sustain is on even tho I'm not touching the pedal. Is this normal? Was it set up that way? I'm a keyboard newbie so idk if other pianos do this or if it's a defect or if it's something baked in to the sample or something that was made up by korg cause that's how real pianos play."
