The Stage 3 is very lacking in envelope pitch modulation, which makes powerful synth brass challenging. I was creating a program for I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Whitney Houston), so I had to work around this. I made this sample with TAL J-8. Stacked, panned voices and octaves, and most importantly a detuned attack to create the punch. I might upload more alternatives and iterations, if I feel like making some.
The sample is indeed very bright in timbre, but EQ or filtering will take care of that. It works with a 0 attack - full sustain - short release envelope, but envelope and filter shaping is still an option.
