Modwheel position stored in presets?
I downloaded some of the J3PO presets from nords website and noticed that some of the presets have a stored value for where the modwheel position starts at. I didn''t know the NS3 had this feature. How do I access this??
One example is the J3 Tape Upright program

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
Hello. I looked at the program tonight. The MW is morphed to the EQ's HP24 FILT FREQ for the Saloon Upright Lrg and the Synth FILTER FREQ. The values stored with the Program aren't for their settings when the MW is at its minimum, but where their settings move to (increase or decrease) when the MW is at its max. The manual covers how to "morph" a setting to the MW, Control Pedal, and/or AfterTouch. The MW is always active, so wherever you have it when you select a program will affect any settings that are morphed and the vibrato if assigned. Take care

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
From my experimentation with the Stage 3, the modwheel position is NOT part of the program. It's whatever position it happens to be, physically. So if a Program's sound is dependent on the wheel position, you may end up having different sounds as you recall the same Program depending on where the wheel happens to be.

That would have been an easier answer!Hlaalu wrote:From my experimentation with the Stage 3, the modwheel position is NOT part of the program....

...Or more specific and still short: Programs store functions allocated to the wheel, but not the position of the wheel.

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
Thanks, you both hit on the modwheel "position" that was needed. I reworded my original post to also clarify what values are stored. Take careKaffimusic wrote:...Or more specific and still short: Programs store functions allocated to the wheel, but not the position of the wheel.

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
Thanks for the responses. I've always known the modwheel position is absolute. I actually use this feature set to reverb across the board so that switching my patches all have the same exact reverb between them.
My unit is showing an anomaly, then. When I change to the program it is acting as if the mod wheel is all the way to its max. When i move it slightly then it changes to the new position. I'm not sure what to make of this.

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
First thing that comes to mind: Make sure you are not sending Mod Wheel messages over MIDI in to the Stage 3.
How consistently does the Mod Wheel virtual "position" jump to max when switching programs. And does this only happen to specific programs?

Re: Modwheel position stored in presets?
And are you sure the reverb is only controlled by MW, not by another morph (control pedal) as well?
