hello,
i've been playing the Black Upright (5.3, Lrg) recently and noticed an odd key noise on Eb2 and the surrounding keys. it's very obvious in this clip for instance (excuse my playing):
i understand Nord's pianos are less "processed" than other manufacturers and some natural artifacts will happen, which i usually like, but this one is so noticable it's kind of putting me off the sample. is it just me?

Re: Black Upright, odd key noise
I'm not sure if I'm hearing the "odd noise" other than it sounds like maybe a little bit of a tuning issue coming from the source piano...which makes it perhaps more realistic? It sounds like an old upright that's not perfectly in tune. Or is there something else?

Re: Black Upright, odd key noise
"key noise" was probably the wrong word, i was thinking of "a noise that happens when you press a key" rather than actual noise from the key
the best way i can describe it is a sort of "chime" sound. would that be caused by a tuning issue? it's been so long since i played a real piano that i don't really remember if that's normal...

Re: Black Upright, odd key noise
It sounds to me like an artifact from the piano and yes, tuning (or lack thereof) could create this kind of an artifact. It sounds like an old piano, which could be useful in certain contexts. If you're not loving it, try some of the other piano samples - there are lots from which to choose.

Re: Black Upright, odd key noise
It sounds to me like a casing resonance of the original piano. Maybe over the years some clearances opened up and in this case (get it?) there ended up being a natural frequency of some component right around 78 Hz.
