Nord Drum 3p - Volume Differences

Post by Ryan36 »

Hey guys,
I'm new to this forum and while this is my first post, I'd like to say hello :D
Just got my 3p recently and I'm still hyped about it.

One thing, that I still haven't figured out and wasn't able to find anything in the web about is the big difference in the sound volume.
I've just plugged the outputs r+l to my Focusrite 18i20 and while some sounds are very huge, those "simple" drum sound (Bank A fe) are barely hearable.
Is there a way to fix this? Like normalizing all the sounds via the system or using a DI Box or something like that?
Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

Cheers,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,

Welcome to the forum!!

If you look at the diagram of a single drum channel on page 6 of the manual, there are a couple of parameters that can affect levels, or perceived loudness, directly or indirectly. I'd start by checking the channel level(s).

Do you also hear these differences when you connect headphones to the unit directly?

If not, perhaps check that your DAW or interface doesn't sum L and R, not sure if the reverb of the 3p does something funny with phases so that cancellation will occur when L and R are summed.

Cheers,
Albert
