Headphone output

Has anyone experienced the sound cutting off when playing with headphones through the headphone output? The problem seems to resolve after pulling the headphone adapter out partially. Am I using the wrong 1/8" to 1/4" stereo adapter? I've tried two different ones now including a brand new one and it's the same thing. Thanks for any insight.

Are you maybe using an adapter for headset audio (mobile phone use)? You should have one with Tip-Ring-Sleeve, not Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve.

Hmm, I think I have TRS. I'm using the one attached. This is TRS, correct?

That one from the image seems okay, but what headphones do you use? With 3 rings? If you use one with 3 rings that could be a problem.
If not, sometimes it's a problem with loose hole inside adapter. I think the best way to use headphones with any keyboard but especially Nord is; to use good quality headphones that have either built-in TRS (so that you don't need adapter) or ones that have thread and adapter that has thread too, so you can screw them together and headphones will join perfectly with adapter.

No, there won't be damage on either board or headphones.
Voltage & current is really low for headphones, and designed to not break from the sudden disconnects and shorts that occur when inserting/removing connector in jack.

BTW...
There are adaptors from 4-pole to 3-pole 1/8" if You really like the headphones for playing.
Should be dirt cheap to get one of those.

As fieldflower said, there should be no damage, but once again, I recommend using something like this:



To connect that adapter and cable together, you need to screw them together. So there will be no free space inside adapter for cable to move and change the sound or disconnect. But you need to have cable and adapter that support that. Many studio headphones have exactly this solution.
