Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
Why don't they introduce multilayer velocity mapping???? I really don't get it? It's the 4th generation Sample Editor and crucial feature like this is still missing
p.s. I'm sorry to be annoying with this (I know there are many places on this forum where this topic is discussed), but I really think that multilayer velocity mapping would take this instruments to a whole new level

Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
Single layer samples is a philosophy.
Nord sample RAM architecture is scarse.
Didn't check but are there other audio formats than (non-looped
) WAV that can be imported in this v4 ?

Which stand-alone keyboards implement what you call "multi-layer velocity mapping" in a way that you think Clavia/Nord should do it?Nord33 wrote:Why don't they introduce multilayer velocity mapping???? Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
I know this is possible for All kurzweil, Korg and Yamaha workstations. This is really important for very realistic sounds, mainly for piano's and Brass/strings.Which stand-alone keyboards implement what you call "multi-layer velocity mapping" in a way that you think Clavia/Nord should do it?
For live in a band context with drums and guitar players, the single layer is good enough for me. With some filtering I'm able to load many sample sets quickly in my nords.
More layers means: larger sample-sets, much more looping and longer loading times. Balancing between the amount of velocity-levels is difficult...
I much more prefer the option to import looped samples(-sets). I have many that are already sampled and looped. Importing those means extra work and other loopers are sometimes better. For some samples the samples are looped with fades, so looping them again is not optimal.
Import soundfonts would be great (Although you need to select the velocity level sampleset to import)
YMMV

Roland Fantom too. Maybe the Waldorf Quantum as well?Eriknie wrote:I know this is possible for All kurzweil, Korg and Yamaha workstations. Actually, on the high price range of synths, only Nord does not offer it...
Current Keyboard Rig: Nord Stage 3 compact, Yamaha Montage 7wh, Yamaha YC61, Alesis Fusion 6HD. Yamaha babygrand Piano. Extra sounds Ipad with AUM and plenty of synth apps + onsong pro

Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
Interested to try out the new Editor.
Too bad the audio recorder doesn't have an auto-sampler feature like in Logic Pro X. maybe that will be in the next version.

Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
I think that is unlikely, as that feature in Login from what I can see is a plugin tied into the guts of the DAW. I believe that the NSE would have to be released as a VST3 plugin instead of a stand-alone app for that to happen. As it is now, it has nowhere to pull and analyze the needed information from-skylerocean wrote:Interested to try out the new Editor.

Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
You're all missing the question. Which keyboard has the multi-sampling implementation that you want Nord to implement? That includes creating your own multi-layer samples, not just ROMpler capabilities. Be specific to a brand and model. I'm sure some do it better than others.

Re: Sample Editor 4 just announced
If multi-velocity user/synth library samples come at all, they would come with a new sample format, not a new sample editor. And since they just introduced a new format with some added features, I wouldn't expect anything else in that regard for a while. (Unless they built in a foundation for multi-velocity samples in this new format, as something to be made available in the future.)Nord33 wrote:Why don't they introduce multilayer velocity mapping???? Here's what they say about the newly announced .nsmp4 format:
Nord is about ease of use, though. Which brings me to this...The new sample format in the Piano 5 offers several exciting new features. Unison creatively blends several sample voices for rich, ensemble-like sounds, “Tru-Vibrato” accurately models the unique vibrato characteristics of a wide variety of wind, brass and string instruments and round robin allows natural sounding fast repetitions. In addition synth sounds are available as monophonic samples with legato.
As has been alluded to, there are plenty of them. Among current models, Roland Juno DS, Korg Kronos/Nautilus/PA700/PA1000, Kurzweil PC4/Forte/K2700, Yamaha Montage/MODX, Casio MZ-X300/MZ-X500 are ones I know of. But while all allow you to assemble your own sounds out of velocity-switched samples, none allow you to bring in your own samples as easily as Nord does. (The Roland and Casio probably come closest, though.)ajstan wrote:You're all missing the question. Which keyboard has the multi-sampling implementation that you want Nord to implement?
