Nord A1 vs Nord Wave amplitude modulation capability
I used to own the A1 but when I bought an original Wave I sold the A1. I used to create Yamaha CS80 type ring mod type sounds on the A1 using the Amp Mod oscillator configuration and the modulation envelope. However on the Wave I cannot get the same results. Maybe I am missing something or there is a difference that means that the same results cannot be achieved. Thanks

This should be posted in the Nord Wave section, not the Nord Lead section. You're asking how to make a Wave sound like a Lead A1.

Thanks. Moved the to Wave forum as it is indeed a Wave post.

This is a telling pair of posts. You mention 4 separate synthesizers, all with wide ranging sound shaping capability, and isolate the creation of one specific sound as the basis for comparison. Spend some time with your new baby, and make some awesome sounds, and don't sweat the recreation of a specific preset from a 1977 synthesizer. (Once you do that, you'll have no problem recreating the sound you're after)

Re: Nord A1 vs Nord Wave amplitude modulation capability
Amplitude Modulation on an A1 is not a preset and nor was ring mod on the CS80. I am trying to recreate a sound on my Wave that I created on my A1. Maybe someone else can be more helpful.CountFosco wrote:This is a telling pair of posts. Why don't you post an example of the sound you are trying to recreate as an mp3? Then, one of the members who owns an original Wave may be better able to help you.

Re: Nord A1 vs Nord Wave amplitude modulation capability
Thats a good idea but I don't own the A1 any more. I was hoping that people would know the CS80 ring mod sound or at least that A1 owners would understand what the Amp Mod can do and sounds like. I can't find any A1 Amp Mod videos but in the CS50 video below from 2.35 this is the type of classic ring mod sound that an A1 can do quite easily. And there are a huge variety of these sorts of Ring Mod sounds that the A1 can do. But of course the Wave does not have amplitude modulation but maybe there is a way to fake this?DJKeys wrote:Why don't you post an example of the sound you are trying to recreate as an mp3? Re: Nord A1 vs Nord Wave amplitude modulation capability
I created a patch on my Wave and took a photo but it does not seem possible to paste a photo here only a link to an external site and I don't have an external site.
On my Wave I used an FM for each oscillator, Osc Mod shape 1, FM amount, Mod envelope Osc 1 & 2, LFO 1 OSC 1 and LFO2 Osc 1 & 2. This gets close but its hard to create the variety of this type of sound that I used to easily get on the A1 that had an amplitude mod function.
