Hey everyone...got some issues that are killing me since I need to use this synth for an upcoming production
1) When I have 2 or 3 programs set to one MIDI channel and I play my controller, I hear all programs (like I should)..BUT...when I turn a knob, let's say Cutoff for example, all programs are effected. Is there an option that I might have selected that's causing this? I've always been able to individually tweak parameters for programs even if they were set to the same midi channel.
2) Sometimes my audio output gets some random saturation..kind of like distortion, but nothing like the distortion setting. Also, whenever this happens, the audio signal loses clarity and presence if I hold down several notes. I usually have to restart the synth a few times to fix the issue. Sometimes I have to wait a few hours. Anyone know what I could to to resolve this issue?
3) My black buttons are incredibly unresponsive...have to hit them 4 or 5 times to select a function. I guess my question here is...is it worth opening up the unit and cleaning the dust ? I believe that's the issue (from research). I've never repaired a synth so I'm a little concerned about messing something up
Any help/feedback would be totally appreciated

Re: Nord Rack 2 1st gen- audio and fuctional issues
You must have an option toggled for all programs to be effected by one knob. Funny, i've been trying to figure out how to make my NL2 do this exactly. I hate having to go into each program to adjust something.
I know how you feel about opening up electronic devices. It's scary. I took a chance recently and opened up my Nord because one of the keys was not responding to velocity. I opened it up, removed the keys, and discovered a tiny piece of paper was sitting on the sensor of the circuit board. I cleaned off the sensor, and waalaah! Fixed!
So it might be something like that, but I have a bad feeling that your not going to be able to open up the insides of those black buttons. I may be wrong, so take a look, but if you can't do it, THEN DON'T! Send it in for repairs.

Press [Shift+2xSlotD=C.on] Use the curser and select C.of. This disables Controller In/Out, so tweaking a knob will not be sent by the same Midi channel to the other Slots.elamen wrote:Hey everyone...got some issues that are killing me since I need to use this synth for an upcoming production

@matthewcoy: use Morph destinated to the ModWheel to perform it to all Slots needed.
Probably the D/A converter, so consult a tech!2) Sometimes my audio output gets some random saturation..kind of like distortion, but nothing like the distortion setting. That's easily done. Beware the LED's when removing and replacing the Panel board.3) My black buttons are incredibly unresponsive...have to hit them 4 or 5 times to select a function. Re: Nord Rack 2 1st gen- audio and fuctional issues
Thank you guys for the quick replies, I'll check this out tonight. If I can resolve the button issue myself then I can manage to avoid a tech for at least a short while. Will be posting my results...

Disabling Controller in/out did the trick, thank you WoutBlommers
I unscrewed the top panel and managed to clear a lot of dust off the side black buttons and they're much more responsive now.
I can start using the synth effectively now, but if anyone has advice on the following...by all means
I'll have to unscrew the board from the top panel to get to the middle buttons. It looks like the rotary knobs are attached to some kind of screw mechanisms. If I remove the board, what will happen to the knobs? And I'm assuming the LEDs are firmly attached to the board?
