Does anyone know how to get a Nord Stage 2 EX to "talk" to Garage Band? I am having trouble - GB won't recognize my Nord. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Garage Band and Nord Stage 2 EX
Can you give any details on what the kind of conversation you are hoping that the Nord and GarageBand might have? Is it a digital conversation with MIDI or more of an analog conversation involving the recording of audio data? If it is via MIDI, are you trying to use a USB cable or using a MIDI cable? (I’m assuming here that the stage 2 has USB output ... I have a Nord stage 3, so I might be asking incorrect questions). And another bit of information that you might include is what kind of machine you have GarageBand running on (Mac, iPad, Windows)?
I’m mainly only mentioning this stuff since nobody is answering yet. I can say that I connected my Nord Stage 3 to both an iPad running GarageBand (via the USB cable through the iPad camera adapter) and to a Mac running a late version OS through the USB cable. It “just worked”. So I’m guessing you have a different setup. If, however, you are using MIDI and expecting it to be a two way conversation with GarageBand, then it won’t work (without jumping through a bunch of hoops). GarageBand doesn’t output MIDI as far as I can tell.

Re: Garage Band and Nord Stage 2 EX
Thanks.
The Nord Stage 2 Ex has a USB out, as well as MIDI in/out. I have tried to connect via my Focusrite Scarlett Solo - this sends an analog signal to my Mac Mini. I have tried sending a signal out of the USB to a USB in on the Mac Mini - but garage band doesn't recognize the signal.
I was on the phone for about an hour with Apple, and they couldn't figure out the problem. I am wondering if I need to make any changes to the MIDI settings on the Nord. I have ordered a MIDI to USB cable interface, but it has yet to arrive.
Thanks

You mean MIDI signal?SoulDawg wrote:I have tried sending a signal out of the USB to a USB in on the Mac Mini
You have to select one of the MIDI channels USB1..16, not MIDI channel 1..16! On a Stage 2 EX, you have only either MIDI-out or USB-MIDI-out.
