I’ve just have been given a beautiful Roland KC 550 for my Nord Electro 5. This thing is very.. LOUD! Which is good.
The only thing that just wont work is the stereo sound that I’d like to hear from this speaker...
I’ve tried mono cables and stereo cables to connect to the inputs of the amplifier but i still hear my piano samples (white grand ect) in mono..
Roland KC amps tend to be very reliable. I have a KC150, which is now my backup. It just might survive the apocalypse.
For me, it was a strong (and unpleasant) peak centered around the "G" which is about 1.5 octaves above middle C which led me to seek another alternative.
It was very noticeable and unpleasant when using an acoustic piano sound.
Before I got a different amp (this was even before I got my Electro), I went so far as to set up a 3-part split on my previous keyboard, with the second part of the split just on that "G", so I could reduce the volume on that note. But its neighbors were also emphasized by my KC-150.
It's great that someone gave you the KC-550. Just wanted to give you an idea of what some may referring to when a Roland amp is discussed.

I have the same amp. It is wonderful with rich bass sounds and very reliable. It is just hard to carry around. Thank goodness it has wheels. In order to get stereo sound from it there area few things you can do.
1 make sure you plug both left and right into the left and right inputs into the single desired amplifier channel. (There are four).
2. The back you will see. Stereo 1/4 inch output to an accessory speaker. You need a 1/4 inch stereo cord and another KC amplifier. Another KC 550 is perfect, but any Roland KC with stereo link input jack will do. I use a second Roland KC 400 (I think). Some of the smaller Rolands amps have stereo link out but not in (I’m not sure why).(KC 110). But hooking up two Roland Speakers this way gives you optimized stereo designed at the Roland factory. It is great with the Leslie function, ping pong effects, and many others. Also go online and pull up the Roland KC 550 pDF owners manual which goes over all this. The manual shows a mono cord, but for some reason a stereo cord sounded better to me. I found my second big KC amp at a pawn shop. I actually have 4 different KCs. All for different size rooms and reasons, love that big 15” woofer of the 550 . The bass string sound rich like a grand, and not booming or thumping.
