Custom Pattern behavior?

Post by zahush76 »

Hi!
I don't have the Wave 2 but was wondering how two (or more) layers with an arpeggiator, each with a different pattern length, work in conjunction.
I understand you can edit the pattern and decide, for example, you set the pattern's length to 11 steps.
So let's say on layer A i have an arpeggiator with 16 steps, and a clock division of 1/16 - and on layer B an arpeggiator with 11 steps set to the same clock in a 1/16 time division/signature.
What will the outcome be?
Will it behave like this:

I.e., will the patterns be synchronized, only different in loop length - but still each 1/16 you get a note from both - or does the layer B arpeggiator simply "stuff" all its 11 steps within the confines of 16 steps?

Thanks! That's really awesome.
Then if you have two patterns, one on each layer - as long as they're both synced to clock with the same division, you can create evolving arpeggios just by setting each pattern to have different number of steps.
