Classic rock jam by The Doobie Brothers, off their Toulouse Street album. There’s a notable dramatic use of B3 in the transition from the middle ballad section back to uptempo, starting in earnest around 3:15 on the album version. Any thoughts from you guys as to what the organist did from that point over the next 10-15 seconds?
We’ve been chugging along with a slow Leslie, then several things seem to happen at once... fast rotor, add chorus, crank up overdrive... is that all? Did the player shove some of the lower drawbars back in, too?
B3 technique on “Jesus is Just Alright”?

If this is the song:
All I’m hearing is that the fairly softly played Hammond is now floored so that it gets a little more distortion, and the upper Drawbars are pulled. No chorus, but 3rd percussion (not sure if that was on before; just listening to the build there).
Mostly, it’s just the swell pedal. Some Leslie switching.

Re: B3 technique on “Jesus is Just Alright”?
Yep, all what analogika mentioned, and it could as well be the style of playing the chords. I have the feeling that the first change from the D chord to an Am7 plays the 7 as a bottom G, whereas the second change from D to Am7 includes the high G which gives it the bite. My personal feeling, might be corrected by others. The punch seems to be given by the swell pedal. Rainy regards from Germany.
