FIRST the internal memory of 2 GB is almost full (5 MB or so left), leaving no room. So I probably have to delete some things. Which ones? See below.
SECOND being conservative in my actions I tried a backup, and canceled it. It will take about 1 hour, and as everything is brand new I can restore the factory defaults if needed. Or is this a bad strategy? Is it enough to just start Backup, or do I have to select all items from, say, the Program view? Can I reload parts of it later, because my own stuff will have grown a little on the NS3C?
THIRD some basic understanding needed. Am I right?
* Songs contains LINKS to one or more Programs (link dump, few, very small in size)
* Programs are a copy of all keyboard settings, including sounds used (register dump, many, moderate in size)
* Sounds can be one or more Piano, Sample or Synth (sound data, few to many, quite some size)
FOURTH what to delete? Am I right?
* deleting Sound data should yield the biggest savings in memory
* this will affect both Programs and Sounds (if so: how?)
* deleting Programs will help just a little bit
* it will affect Songs, but not Sounds (if so: how?)
* deleting Songs (the 10 defaults) will yield little to nothing of memory space
* it won't affect Programs or Sounds.
FIFTH, how do bundles work? Is it like this? E.g. if I select one Sound, the SM looks up all Programs and Songs where it's used and treats this set of data as a bundle? W.r.t. SECOND, is it a better strategy to back up some bundles? If so, how to define them, or does the SM select bundles automatically?
Hm, not so few simple questions ... Thanks for your help.
