Thanks Spooky for developing the first draft version, would like to check it and have registered for a new account. I cannot logo with the new account though but get the message Your username and password combination was not recognised.. I also did not receive any confirmation email after registering, maybe that’s the reason?

Unfortunately, I'm going to take the site offline for a day. We need to resolve GDPR implications of sharing personal data. Probably I will resort to enforcing a new signup process.

haha thanks, we're pretty busy :)

Before I wiped all the users, I noticed your registration was actually successful, but not email-confimed, so You wouldnt had been able to login. Did you check your junk email? The confirmation email unusable now anyway. We can try again tomorrow :)

Indeed looks very promising, Kudos to spookycookie for getting a start on this! (As for the final domain still will have to be confirmed)

In terms of user data it is now resolved and no data is exchanged between both websites. However, I added Steves Account Code required when creating a login there in your user account UCP, just click here to visualize it: ucp.php?i=164
At the bottom of the page you see the entry "NordSamples.com Account Activation Code:".

We also harmonized the requirements for usernames and password so if you want you can easily use your same username and details than on the forum to login over there.

On thing now to consider is the samples: Maybe we can distribute among users interested to help out the task of recording samples for the missing samples.
Cheers

new account registration worked :thumbup: The database looks good, easy to use :clap:

One idea about the sample section (Patches): currently only .nsmp files are created by the Sample Editor, but I think there may come a time when .nsmp3 files can also be created directly without using sound manager to convert. Wouldn’t it therefore be helpful to also add a parameter which shows if the patch is in the old (.nsmp) or new (.nsmp3) format? Not an issue now but maybe in a couple of years, and it’s easier to take care of it in the beginning in case you and the others think that this might be a useful addition.

Hey , theres also StageClassic and Stage 2 in patches in addition to the 1000 UserSamples . The patches might include multiple files and formats, so these types are just a guideline.
But the patch types are as follows. I can easily add another SampleType for nsmp3.

public enum InstrumentType
{
None = 0,
UserSample = 1, // .nsmp => This is what you see on the grid for most items
Lead = 2,
Electro = 3,
Stage1 = 4, // .nspg
Stage2 = 5, // .ns2p
Stage3 = 6 // .ns3p,
UserSampleNew = 7 => I could add this for nsmp3
}

I have made some changes already to the UX, the Patch details are now in a modal popup. They are loaded when you click a row. This reduced the amount of data loading on the main grid, so it will speed up the site.
To be honnest, I am only really getting started on the User Interface, it will change dramatically over the next few weeks. Glad to see the registraion process is working as expected, I can see everyone has used the activation codes and are correctly linked to any patches/files that you uploaded previously.

  • Theres a lot of styling to be done, everything is default styles. It's proof of concept really. Most of the effort has been importing the existing data and creating an Authentication system that validates both the user credentials from this forum and it's own users!
  • I have added a few categories, and descriptions here and there, and linked related patches. There is a lot of work to be done on the data side to make it kick-ass. Once I create the editing features (adding tags, descriptions, category, comments etc) I can give some willing volunteers 'admin' rights to start helping editing, and improving the data.
  • You shouldn't need to register an account, just try to sign in using your credentials from this forum and an account will be created automatically. The new user sign up/registration is really aimed at users that do not have an Nord User Forum account. If you do find yourself registering becasue you are unable to sign in, please use the same username, and let me know here so that I can linkup the accounts correctly.
  • I have put some details about the data model concepts on the temporary home page, if you are interested. I still need to add some more detail here.
If anyone would like to help my write nice copy for the homepage, please let me know. I want it to be nicely optimised (SEO) to help the site rank in Google, so that other Nord users will find it, hopefully expanding our community.

Amazing progress. I think I write web copy pretty well, so I'll send you a mock up before long.
I think I have gear issues ....
