Using Nord Stage EX as MIDI-controller
Hi guys.
I want to use my Nord Stage EX as a midi-controller for Ableton. I have bought a midi to USB adapter to connect the piano to the computer. In the MIDI channel in Ableton i see the input and output are connected, but when i play the notes there is no signal being send into Ableton. Help me get the signal flowing

Re: Using Nord Stage EX as MIDI-controller
It's been awhile since I had my Stage EX, but I believe in the settings you designate whether you want MIDI sent via USB or MIDI ports on back. Take care.
Nord Stage 4 | Nord Stage 3 | SC Prophet T8 | Korg X50... In the past: Nord Stage EX, 2, 2EX | SC Prophet 5, 10 | MiniMoog | Hammond B3 & 122 Leslie | Yamaha DX7IIFD, EX5, CP60 | Hohner D6 | Fender Rhodes | Roland S-50, D-50, XP-50...

Thanks for the reply, pretty sure Nord Stage EX only sends MIDI signals through the MIDI ports on the back and not via USB.

Re: Using Nord Stage EX as MIDI-controller
You've probably done some or all these for troubleshooting but I'll note them just in case:
- confirm that the software is set to receive on the same MIDI channel that the Stage EX is set to send;
- try swapping the MIDI IN/OUT - the instructions are sometimes lacking on whether the OUT connection on the cable represents the MIDI OUT for the software (meaning you would plug it into the Stage EX MIDI IN), or that it should be plugged into the MIDI OUT of the Stage EX;
- try using a regular MIDI cable plugged into another keyboard (Stage EX MIDI OUT to other keyboard MIDI IN) set on the appropriate MIDI channel to confirm the Stage EX is sending properly.
Good luck

Re: Using Nord Stage EX as MIDI-controller
When connecting the "midi to usb adapter" to the computer. Does the computer and software recognize the usb device ?
