Interface for nord stage 2

Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Interface for nord stage 2

Post by mati89 »

Hello. I am looking for an interface to play live on stage. wants to use samples while playing. This is a new topic for me because I'm just starting the adventure with samples. Maybe you have experience in this topic ?? What do you use to play live ?? i was thinking about roland ua-55 quad capture but i don't know if this is a good choice.

What do you mean with "interface for Nord Stage 2" ? The USB port of the Stage2 is only for MIDI and programming/sync signals for Nord's Software (Sound Manager, Sample Editor).

An interface (sound card) can be used with a Laptop / PC/ Mac - using software like Logic X or just any sample player.
You can put the outputs of your Stage into the inputs of the interface to get the Stage and the samples (which are coming out of the interface through your laptop) routed to one stereo output.

so, let me get this right, you have a Nord Stage 2. you want an audio interface to use for live playing of samples / VST instruments? Firstly you have sample playback on the stage 2 using the synth engine with the ability to load samples created through Nord Sample Editor (free on the nord website), once you've created your samples and built an NSMP file, etc for the stage 2, then you can load a sample library with whatever samples you want.

OK in order to see what you want for an audio interface, we'd like to know what you're using for a computer, DAW, intended soft synths, etc. The reason for this is so we can give you suitable suggestions. It'd also help to know your budget. I don't want to recommend an interface that doesn't work with your host or budget and look an idiot here.

As for the computer, it's a laptop with windows. I need the interface to create samples in the fl studio or abelton program. I want to make or upload a sample and then upload it to the nord and use it on stage.

I'm new to this topic and don't know where to start. Maybe some of you use such sets in live playing

My guess is that you want to create a sample and then upload it to your NS.

Yes, therefor you don’t need an interface - just use the Nord Sample Editor and upload your wav files from FL Studio to your Nord Stage ;)

is it possible to create a play sample list in the nord sample edition so as to run them from the program ?? I think there is a little limited memory and as far as I know it can't be expanded. Well, and if there will be any delays if we don't use the sampler.

The sampling engine of the Nord Stage and similar instruments relies on Nord Sound Editor's compression rate, so you'd be surprised what you could use in samples. the trick is where you create loop points, as such making sure that you have suitable loop points which are clean per note / sample. etc. Welcome to the interesting and darks side of instrument programming for the Nord way of life. You don't need a fancy audio interface is this is the intention. believe it or not, programs like SampleRobot are a real help if you were sampling an instrument, ok, if you were doing that, sampling an instrument over audio with MIDI control then yes you'd be looking for a good quality interface, remember that when sampling, stick to 44.1khz 16 bit either mono or stereo samples and nothing more.

Hello Mati89, as a Nord Stage 2 newbie some years ago I was also thinking to create samples, thinking about interfaces, the "small" space etc.
But make a first look into this User Forum in the "Sounds->Nord Samples" or the "Sounds>Samples Collection" section. There are much more than 1000 ready to use downloadable user samples, not to mention the many, many factory samples from Nord (downloadable from the Nord Site). I have loaded more than 180 samples in the "small" sample area of my Stage 2. I ended after this experience making myself maybe only 5-10 own samples within 3 years with the sample editor from Nord.
The sample player of our Nord works perfectly without any noticable delay, maybe one reason for the high price of these keyboards (the expensive memory).
Have fun with the Stage 2
Wolfgang
