Midi on nord electro 6D

Post by Izz456 »

Hey, is it possible to make your nord electro 6D act like a midi controller when connected with logic pro x? Like through MIDI In, MIDI Out or something??

Sure. MIDI Out lets the NE6D act as a MIDI controller. Note that its controller functionality is quite limited, but just to play sounds in Logic, sure, it will work.

Yes, any modern keyboard can be used to send midi to a computer. Connecting MIDI out from the electro to the MIDI in on the computer works - but you can also just use a USB cable to do this.

You may need to enable the input on your sequencer software manually, if it does not happen automatically.

Or even not so modern. Any keyboard with a MIDI Out jack will do, as will any keyboard with USB, so basically almost any keyboard made for the last 30+ years... the main caveat being that the early USB keyboards didn't have "class compliance" so may need custom drivers which, in turn, may not work on current versions of Windows/MacOS... but even then, most of those earlier USB keyboards also had standard MIDI jacks which would work with no driver.

Edit: yes it does, according to the user manual..... so no idea :wtf:

Because it is not a "control surface" that can be recognized as such automatically, you need to create one and assign the NE controls to Logic manually (if this is what you are expecting to do), otherwise you can just use it as a MIDI keyboard to play Logic's SW Instruments.

PS: can you see the NE4 on the Audio MIDI Configuration panel of MAC OS? If not, check that the "2 - MIDI Interface" parameter in the MIDI menu of NE4
is set to "U" (USB-MIDI), as explained on NE4 manual...

and i try to assign this thing to logic but something strange is that in the logics preference's midi window under input it checks my nord as a NE4 MIDI output

and i tried to add my ne4 in the control surfaces window under midi controllers -set up-new- install but in the list it didn't have any nord products :/
