Stage 2 EX (Strange) Filter Question
Hi all! I've been trying some samples I have also loaded in my Electro 3 and noticed some differences. So I've been wondering is there a way to switch off the filter in Stage 2 EX synth engine in order to have the samples sound with their original filter when sampled? TIA

Re: Stage 2 EX (Strange) Filter Question
HI, if you do a Synth SOUND INIT then the synth parameters are all initialized and the filter is fully open, with no envelope or velocity or LFO; so if you do Sound Init then put the OSC in SAMP mode and load one, you hear the "pure" sample waveform.
What you don't get, compared to the Nord Electro, are the pre-defined filter, velocity and envelope parameters used by the NE Sample synth, which are ignored by NS2 Synth. Maybe these are the real reason why you hear differences?

Re: Stage 2 EX (Strange) Filter Question
Thanks, maxpiano! The thing is I deleted all the samples and programs before starting "sculping" my sound set with the sounds I need/like. So now all synth programs are initialized with fully open LP12 filter by default. Also I'm not sure if there's a Sample synth in NE 3. More likely it's just some limited user memory with no pre-difined filter settings. I'm trying to understand is there a way to switch the entire filter section on NS 2 ex off with no type being on. It's just the sounds have been sampled with some filter already applied on them - the filter of the original hardware or software synth. So I guess my question should be is there a way to get into a highly simplified ala NE3 mode when loading a user sample. Also, octave shift only works with +1 or -1 octave - no way going further? Thanks again!

Re: Stage 2 EX (Strange) Filter Question
Yoy can’t switch the filter off, but when its cutoff is set at maximum it is de facto the same, no worries.
Octave range increments if you assign the synth to a zone instead of full keyboard.
PS: read the Nord Sample Editor manual about .nsmp parameters for Nord Electros... and read NS2 manual too..
