self created sample volume low
self created sample volume low
Hi,
I am the guitar player in a metal coverband. Our singer has a Nord Wave. We've decided to play a Rammstein cover. I used a wav file and cut it into several pieces to create the samples. I then imported those samples into the Nord Wave via the nord sound manager and nord sample editor (I also updated the Nord firmware to the latest version)
Now, the problem is when we select the preset on the Nord where my custom samples are stored, the volume of those samples is very low, compared to all the other 'factory' presets on the nord. How can I increase the volume of my samples? Can I increase it inside the preset on the Nord? Or should I increase the volume with the nord sample editor first before importing it again in the Nord (if yes how can I do this)
Since we use different presets live, we can't just adjust the overall volume on the fly as now there is a big volume difference between my samples and all other presets on the Nord.

The best way to do this is to optimize the gain of the samples before you bring them into the sample editor. I'm not sure if there is a way to do it in the editor directly.

Re: self created sample volume low
Try to sample again that audio with a higher gain or, if you cannot do that, normalize the .wav files using an audio tool such as Audacity before importing them in the NSE.

Re: self created sample volume low
I just boosted mine 20db and then re-downloaded to keyboard... same output volume. Very low. Anyone else had this? Thanks, Remy

Re: self created sample volume low
When you import the .wav into the sound editor, there is a function to adjust the volume on the "sample loop/stop" tab. This adjustment is in the lower right corner and is indicated by a blue arrow. I tried to capture this in the attached work doc. This helped on mine, hope it helps you...tony

That setting only changes the waveform display in the looping window, it's like a vertical Zoom button.twofarmers wrote:.there is a function to adjust the volume on the "sample loop/stop" tab. This adjustment is in the lower right corner and is indicated by a blue arrow.
On the Instrument tab there is a Sample Gain parameter. The amount of gain you can add really depends on the content of your samples. You just have to try a setting, download the file into the Wave and then play a bunch of notes at one time to see if you get any distortion. Polysynths naturally need some headroom to play chords.
