Everything about Nord keyboards in general; which one to choose, the sound manager, sample editor, and general discussion about the sample and piano libraries.

Lately that hasn't been the case. And not just with the EP filters. Here's another one:

There are a lot of Nord customers out there playing a lot of instruments that are not THAT old. But now if you don't have the Stage 3, too bad. To those who say the older boards don't have the technology to keep up, rubbish. When Nord wants to share the wealth, they share the wealth:

OMG ..... the return of the troll

Well I am not a programmer of firmware etc. myself so cannot judge what is possible or not. And I do have a NS2, and patiently waiting for the EPs who knows.
But I bought it years ago and so what, I use it for what I bought it for. Luckily it is a free market.
More to the point, please behave nicely on these forums, presuming whatever motivation or strategy often misses out facts that are beyond our knowledge.
cheers

Yep, our troll is back.

A company giving priority to its currently selling products? The shame, the horror!

The other side? My ancient Nord Electro 4D is STILL getting new sounds, thanks to Nord. As is my Piano 2. And that's likely to go on for quite a while.

I agree, new EP for my stage 2, 8 years old now and is still working like a charm, no complains for me, I will, lab to buy the stage 3 compact....or the EX or the 4....but the stage 2 or an Electro will still be top notch instruments to play with....whatever the upgrade they could get...

>Dude. Seriously. I really try to be polite but f**** off.<

Actually, you don't really try, you couldn't even manage for that sentence. If "trolling" is carping about the company, then I'm guilty as charged. But I never comment or snark on other posters. Not so you, analogic; your whole rep here is based on going after anyone you disagree with, personally and never "politely."

So let's just call things as they are, to keep it fair, hmm? Along with trolls, there are also just plain rude, mean people.

MOD EDIT: Please, keep it on a professional matter-oriented non-personal level!

To me, @analogika has always come across as a very polite and helpful guy, offering his insights and valuable information freely... It doesn't mean the he (and anyone else here) agree or support everything Clavia does or says; it usually just comes out as something called constructive criticism :-)

And yes, sometimes some of us can get a bit annoyed or speak out in stronger words when e.g. discussions derail or we´re misunderstood (myself included), but generally I think most here are really friendly people. The signal to noise ratio is very very high here on the Nord forums; I hope we can keep it like that.

So I take it you’re doubling down on the argument that Nord is stiffing its customers because they aren’t back-porting custom programs created for the Stage 3 to an older model with a completely different synth engine?

But for some reason, it wasn’t stiffing their customers when they released custom programs for the Stage 2 but didn’t back-port those to the classic?

But making a new piano format available to machines that first shipped EIGHT YEARS AGO (Stage 2) and FOUR YEARS AGO (Electro 5) is an outrage, because they are letting down customers of older machines?

For real? That’s your argumentation?

Man, you may disapprove of the language, but you were the one who started with being insulting.

No value in spending any more time on replies to Gambold's opinion, it's useless ..... he thinks that products which are 3 generations behind the current lineup should still be fully compatible with all new technology developments so he has to live with unfufilled expectations.

I think it's rather sad that this thread went off the rails as badly as it did. Lost inside his "you've all been brainwashed" mantra, Gambold has a valid point: Nords are pricey instruments, and that is in part due to the promise that you will be able to receive updates after your purchase.

Now, how long can we reasonably expect them? As long as its the most recent incarnation of the line, well, that seems to be a given. But what about older models? Is it simply a matter of time?

It's pretty obvious from this thread that most people on this forum agree that, for example, the Electro 4 is now outside of the range - the Piano 3, not so much. So where is the line (if there is one ;))?
