Not that you folks need to hear this, but ...

I now am using the new EPs and dyno filters for 100% of my EP work. Not using the newer samples -- and not using the dyno filters -- just doesn't cut it anymore for me.
I think I have gear issues ....

Yeah, there is no going back once you're tasted the new EPs and filters. I must admit, though, that for what I play I also frequently use them without filters or with some of the other ones too :-)

Well, obviously it takes more time than we're willing to accept. Of course everyone hoped for good news with the beginning of the NAMM. Seems that each OS has to be updated before the other series will be ready for enhanced EPs. Axl R. already told us to be patient...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Take it easy. I compared both side by side and for my ears the difference was not night and day. The samples are enhanced, some a little bit more, others i couldn‘t here any difference (sparkletop and bright tines for example). And with the EQ you get close to the new filters. The Dyno filters sounded good at home, but on stage i found it to sharp. But after all it’s a matter of taste...

Hah, what you don't have, you don't need. That's becoming the new go-to around here, as the Nord customership gets ever more bifurcated by Clavia's marketing plan to not provide usable or size-conscious updates for "older" gear.

Just like here in the good old USA, the gap between the haves and the have-nots is ever-widening. Hell, the oldies might need their own forum soon.

There’s a rule I learned in computer sales in a previous life:

If it was worth what you paid for it when you bought it, nothing has changed.

The irony is that nobody would feel jilted if they’d just brought out a new machine entirely, with a new synth format and no way to back-port that.

Here, people are whining (well, just Gambold) that their old boards continue to do exactly what they’ve always done. I don’t see you crying that Nord never offered sample library compatibility to the Stage classic, or .npno access to the Electro 2...

And this is somehow representative of the gap between the haves and the have-nots... I dunno. It seems more like the spread of millennial entitledness.

I remember when synths didn't get any updates at all, period. The manufacturer just did their best and shipped it. I miss those days. Nobody fussed about not getting the latest stuff put backwards on their ancient piece of kit. As long as the worst bugs get fixed I'm fine with it. I didn't buy my Nords for what they'll be in the future. I bought them for what they are right now.

Bosh. Nord's marketing is, or was, predicated on an evolving piano and sample library. It's presented a big part of their marketing and a big part of their pricing.

Lately that hasn't been the case. And not just with the EP filters. Here's another one:

There are a lot of Nord customers out there playing a lot of instruments that are not THAT old. But now if you don't have the Stage 3, too bad. To those who say the older boards don't have the technology to keep up, rubbish. When Nord wants to share the wealth, they share the wealth:

Did you just seriously try to argue that the custom SOUND BANKS for Stage 3 weren’t back-ported to the Stage 2?
While the Nick Semrad Stage 2 Sound Banks were never ported to the Satge Classic?

Dude. Seriously. I really try to be polite but f**** off.

I think its funny. I really was LOL!

Reminds me of people running old Windows 95/98 or NT  crying that new apps released for newer versions of Windows won't work for them. Or people that bought a 1080p HD TV and then they can't watch in 4K. Or now 8k.
I find it rare to purchase anything for what it might do in the future. Especially any technology (which I consider keyboards) that should be expected to be upgraded and out of date, often quickly. I buy everything including my keyboards based what they can do at time of purchase. I think Nord users are lucky. Other keyboard companies sell their updates & additional sounds even on current models. I consider the updates and new sounds as a bonus. At some point I expect them to stop, yes probably when a new model is released. As it makes no sense for a company to give you new model features for older models of anything.
