Mono mode: Organ louder after changing from a Synth program

Post by PeteHughes »

I think I have finally managed to consistently re-create the problem where organ programs unexpectedly change volume, at least in MONO mode, anyway.

In brief, moving from a synth program back to an organ program incorrectly increases the volume of the organ program. You can temporarily fix this by disabling and re-enabling the rotary speaker, or disabling MONO OUT.

Can anyone please confirm this behavior?

I'm using OS 2.02.

1) Set the Stage 3 to Mono Mode by holding SHIFT and pressing MONO OUT.

2) Go to new <empty> program.
3) In Organ section, press "Zone Select" to switch on the organ. Play a chord to confirm you can hear the organ sound (with the default draw bar setting: 888888888).
4) Press the grey button in the Rotary section to enable rotary speaker.
5) Press the red "Store" button to store the program. The new program should now be called "Unnamed 1".

6) Move the "Program" DIAL clockwise one position to change to the next empty program called <empty>.

7) In Synth section, press "Zone Select" to switch on the Synth. Play a chord to confirm you can hear the default synth sound "Classic Sine".
8) Press the red "Store" button to store the program. The new program should now be called "Unnamed 2".

9) Move the "Program" DIAL anti-clockwise one position to change back to program "Unnamed 1" (Organ).
10) Hold a chord to hear the organ sounding LOUDER than before.
11) Whilst still holding the chord, press the grey button in the Rotary section to DISABLE the rotary speaker.
12) Whilst still holding the chord, press the grey button in the Rotary section AGAIN to re-enable the rotary speaker. The organ should now return to its original volume.

OK, I can reproduce it here too. It happens only in Mono mode.

Once you have set it up as above, the easiest way to reproduce it is to go to the synth program and play a chord and release it. Then change to the organ and play a chord AND HOLD IT DOWN while changing back to the Synth program and then again back to organ program. There will be a difference in how the organ sounds either when you change to the synth or when you change back again.

If you switch off seamless transitions, it will (I think) remove the issue.

If you want, I can send this to Nord -- or you can send it yourself too, if you want.
