New OS1.60

This is my first Nord, but I have been consistently impressed, not just with the product itself but their attentiveness to their customers. You may plunk down a chunk of change for one of these things, but they make it worth it!

finally they solved the problem of the sustained notes , now everything is ok! This version OS 1.60 seems stable and performing, they have solved all the bugs concerning the midi in dual KB mode! thank you all! great north!

So, with this OS, dual Kb like with the stage 2 works as well as panel midi and Instrument midi mode right? If yes, it's great, one more option than the Stage 2.

Hello ... We're still not there with this 1.60. Surely they have solved problems but have you tried playing acoustic pianos and rhodes? Without equalization they are insuonable .. And even if the equalizations there is not a good result ... I am very embittered ... I think to come back to 1.36 ... to see if I can get better sounds ... The official demo of North Stage 3 sounds so beautiful ... How is all this possible?

@leonardo1: To me, 1.60 sounds at least as good as -- if not better than -- previous releases (at least on my HA88 version -- not sure what you're using?).

If you think it sounds a bit on the "dull" side, try to increase KBD TOUCH to 1 instead.

Instrument MIDI is gone on the Stage 3. There is a 'Dual KB single instrument mode' instead, am I right?
With my Stage 2 88 I can split and layer two synths using a MIDI keyboard that sends on two different MIDI channels. Can't do that with the Stage 3 88 and the same MIDI keyboard, right?

I'd be interested to hear what the exact problem is? 1.60 fixed the big issues I was having with polyphony-voice stealing on the synth. I'm new to Nord - got my s3 Compact a couple months ago - so maybe i don't have the reference you do? Can you post samples of some sort to illustrate problems? I'm pretty happy at this point overall.

Not trying to diminish your problems, but it appears you've had problems getting a suitable sound out of your NS3 also before 1.60? So there may be some underlying issues that -- for you -- have changed to the worse in 1.60. For me, as said, 1.60 is the best release so far, also in terms of acoustic pianos (comparing to other keyboards Roland, Yamaha, acoustic pianos or the Nord Piano 4).

Which NS3 do you have (compact 73, HP76 or HA88)?
