NS3 Organ - not so good (but I'm making it better i think)
Re: NS3 Organ - it ain't so good ...
Ok - so I've gone and played with the EQ quite a bit - set key click to high - and fooled with compressor a little - and just tried to approach it from a fresh spot. Much happier now I think. the Korg is great - but it "sounds" like a CX3 - it has it's own sound that is. Trying to be very objective, i see where the NS3 does sound perhaps more "Hammond Like" in most cases - getting there . the EQ really helps it cut. S3 Leslie is better as is distortion/drive.

Agreed that the NS3 sounds more Hammond Like than the CX3. I loved the CX3 at the time it came out and for a long time thereafter -- probably the best emulation of a B3 around for a long while.kbmatson wrote:Ok - so I've gone and played with the EQ quite a bit - set key click to high - and fooled with compressor a little - and just tried to approach it from a fresh spot. Did you get the bottom ends that you was looking for with the EQ, compressor and distortio/Drive?

Well - it's acceptable if not as strong as the Korg. Honestly, I try not to stomp on our bass player too much LOL! Overall - I'm getting a good sound now - i boosted lows and and highs in EQ and cut low mids a bit - and with compression - sounding pretty good!aureliopenna wrote:Did you get the bottom ends that you was looking for with the EQ, compressor and distortio/Drive?

Nice! Glad to know. I did some tweaking my self today, using no leslie adding chorus controled by wheel Some distortion with twin or JC with little more dst on wheel as well.kbmatson wrote:Well - it's acceptable if not as strong as the Korg. Then some very short delay to add liveness and some short no high reverb. Works different from Leslie but sounds nice.

Just curious, what version of the NS3 are you using? I am seriously interested in the 73 Compact.
I'm trying to get away from "heavy" gear. My Yamaha S90-ES is 50 lbs. I love the keyboard, it sounds great, and it is extremely flexible, reliable and powerful. But it just keeps getting heavier every year.
