I don’t know anything about the Emu samplers, and there are a couple of different used models offered in the bay. Which Emu model would you recommend to get the full taste of the free samples?Quai34 wrote:Great, I like to see I'm not the only one thinking that Emu hardware still worth to have....IanzKeys wrote:Getting at the samples is indeed easy enough. The EMU hardware has a warmth all of its own though, so I would want to capture that as well. I will get to it eventually

Re: No new samples?
It depends on how much you want to pay. I would certainly suggest getting one the later models, least an ESI-2000 / 4000 or newer.
The real problem can be reading the CD / ZIP / Jazz disks the samples are on. For me, that is just the 'entertainment' of using old equipment though.
And then after going to all that effort, you need to re-sample them through good pre-amps - not just a cheap USB sound card.

Re: No new samples?
Not sure if you're interested in digital piano sounds, but these might be worth a look if you don't have them yet.

Re: No new samples?
just get a roland D05 module, you'll thank yourself for it. sampling of a D50 isn't worth the headache as you won't get the true character of the D50, so a new boutique D05 from roland is more than enough, midi and batteries, sorted lol.
with regards emulator samples. I would love to get my hands on the old EMU CD's etc and convert them. Somewhere, someone did create a few samples as a pack for the emulator II, yet for me, there just wasn't enough. Korg on the other hand KAPro released their EMUlator libraries, they do sound nice.
I think we should discuss with Nord our wishes as owners / users of their gear as to samples / sample libraries, let's be creative. Here's a good example. Anyone remember the organ / mellotron strings combi used in Genesis "watcher of the skies"?, that's something I'd love and miss. I've done some modelling in the past with other machines but I'd have to say the stage 3 does it as near justice as possible from the mellotron setup, just wish the organ combi sample was there.
I know this might sound rather odd, but it's something that sits in my mind here. bear in mind that the stage, electro, etc are open sampler instruments as such, why don't we create complete system setups featuring certain pianos, sample libraries, etc to upload as restores for that "instant gratification"? it's been a thought of mine based on recording and production work, ok I don't have sound modules or soft synths, even anything fancy, but the stage 3 seems to be the way forward as an expandable / open end system.

Re: No new samples?
Ha! I found that library a few weeks ago. There is so much to choose from in there.
Then I saw the Korg M1 library, and I wondered if my M1, which has been gathering dust for 10 years, still works. And it does
