Humming Power Supply?
Hallo,
I realize that my new Stage 3 88 humms when I switch it on. So that might be the Power Supply. The tone is always there and a bit annoying.
My Electro 5 does not make any noise here.
So is this normal? I read about interference problems with the Power Supplies here as well, so it would be interesting if others have the same problem.
Regards
Carsten.

Re: Humming Power Supply?
From what I’ve read here on the forum it’s normal. Mine does it too. I find I have to be in a very quiet environment or have my head right next to the back of the board to notice it anymore.

Mine does it too. Told it is the transistor, and that it’s normal. I don’t notice the noise bleeding into recordings or the PA, so it hasn’t bothered me.

Re: Humming Power Supply?
Actually I believe the noise is being generated by a DC voltage converter used in the OLED screen.Hobster wrote:I think you may mean transformer (as in, mains transformer)...

Re: Humming Power Supply?
Ok, perhaps not mains, but a DC voltage converter is still a transformer of sorts...
I was basing it being mains on the fact that I was told by Nord (thru their distributor) that the hum in my old Electro 3 was generated by mechanical vibrations in the power supply transformer.
