NS3 Factory Restore problem
Dear friends, please, could you help me ??
I bought the original Nord stand to install on my NS3, but after installing it I noticed that the central shelf screw came inside the keyboard and affected some keys of the central part that were pressed down. I tried to turn on the keyboard and it did not turn on then it showed the message "Piano Flash Error Init Fail [0]".
After that, I removed the keyboard from the shelf. The keyboard then turned on normally and the keys returned to the correct position, but the piano section sounds did not work again and when I select them I have the message "Piano Not Found".
To try to fix this problem, I tried Factory Restore to see if the piano sounds come back, but after a certain process time, the message “Download failed: CReqFileClosed: Not found (1)” appears and I can not finish the restore.
Have you seen this problem before? Do you know if it's some simple to solve? I am without the pianos of my Nord and I have a Gig scheduled for the weekend.
Help please.

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
Hi brunnodomingues,
Maybe it shorted something. I'm not familiar with these error messages, but it seems to point to a problem with the piano memory, I hope it is not permanently damaged. Perhaps see what happens if you connect it to a computer with the Nord Sound Manager, and try to clean the piano memory? Best of luck!
Albert

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
Unfortunately it sounds like you may have caused a short or a cable to disconnect inside the board. It may be the entire Piano section that is somehow failing (or the memory hereof).
You could try to open it up, to check if some ribbon cables have been disconnected (or damaged). Try also to look for any PCB boards that have been damaged/scratched.
If you are not lucky and that it is only a loose cable, I'm afraid it has to go in for a repair.
Did you use the original screws, and put them all in the right place?

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
Hi!! Thank you for the answers!
I opened the keyboard and theres no signal of internal damage. The screw does not seem to have touched the internal circuits.
I think it’s an eletronic/software problem now. Maybe my backup is corrupted. I’m sure if I make a backup of another NS3 the problem will be solved.
Does anyone have an NS3 backup made in version 1.46 of the operating system? If yes, can you share with me, please?

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
Hi, good to hear there is no visible physical damage, presuming you have a 76, the bolt pushed up some of the weights (in that way pushing down some keys) and perhaps touched a board shorting electronics, must be quite a long bolt? Version 1.46 is the latest OS, you should be able to use a backup created in an older OS as well, the OS and a fresh factory restore can be downloaded here: http://www.nordkeyboards.com/downloads/ ... rd-stage-3
For some reason I think there is/was something wrong with reading from, or writing to the piano flash memory. Can you check the pianos in the Sound Manager, I'd still suggest deleting all pianos in the memory, then use the clean function, then continue trying the restore.

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
Hi wartaler,
1. Yes. It was a long bolt.
2. Yes. The restore factory is not working. This is when the message "Download failed: CReqFileClosed: Not found (1)" appears.
3. About deleting the pianos.
I have already done this in the first few tries, it says that it erased successfully but it does not let the pianos install again, it gives the message of lack of file "Download failed: CReqFileClosed: Not found (1)".
I hope that backing up with the file from another NS3 might work. If someone can share one with me so I can try this.
Thank you!

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
You could try to use the sound manager to just download one piano to one one of the locations. If that also fails, I'm afraid it could nevertheless be a hardware issue.
Even if there is no physical damage, you could still have some internal connections on the PCB broken -- but I agree that if there are absolutely no visible damage, then maybe you're lucky and nothing has happened. It just sounded like the bolt had pushed on something, since the problem appeared to have happened after you had this incident?

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
If those bolts were those supplied by Nord and you followed the instructions (if any), I would complain to them. It is inconceivable that they sell over-sized bolts that damage their own instruments. I would expect that they checked it at the factory.
What I would do is to carefully open the kbd and check for lose connectors. However, you might be better off sending it to the service in your country (I assume that it still is under warranty).

Re: NS3 Factory Restore problem
I second what Mr. G already said, it is better if you go for official assistance support, contact your local Nord dealer or the Brazil distributor and have your NS3 serviced by experts.
