Another new user here, so apologies in advance for the newb questions.
I'm also seeking to change out some of the preset sounds for new ones (primarily better sounding pianos). I've searched through the different pages and not yet found any posts that go over how people have managed to change sounds and retain some of the programs that they don't want to change. Has anyone been able to do this bit-by-bit (deleting some sounds/programs but keeping others), or is it a more like you have to wipe everything and build your programs yourself?
If you do delete some programs, do you just have to make sure that the ones you delete aren't associated with any that you want to keep?
I also went to electro>programs and didn't find much about using the sound manager effectively.
Again, sorry for the dumb questions. I know I need to go back into the manual and work out more stuff by myself, but I'm just hoping someone else may be able to shine some light on this.
Thanks.

Re: New to the Nord Electro World!
You absolutely do not have to wipe and start from scratch.
You can keep the one You love, modify and keep the ones You like, and either disregard och delete the ones You don't care for at all.
When just removing piano and sample sounds the programs that use them will be empty in that "instrument".
This can be fixed in the Sound manager though. You can for example populate all sounds that used to have a certain piano with another piano.
May turn out funny for example if the "Italian Grand" program suddenly has a German grand piano sound because You substituted the Italian, but on the other hand You obviously didn't like the Italian that much so maybe that program wasn't for You and could be deleted...
What You can also do is substitute sounds in the upload, if You're looking to substitute one piano for another.
Then You take the substitution option instead of just uploading.
Just start playing around with the Sound Manager and test different options ans You'll get the hang of it...

Re: New to the Nord Electro World!
One important thing to manage is the Stereo/Mono consideration. Most of the voices have some stereo component and that has a lot to do with the sound. If you're playing a mono amp, you can use a stereo cable, OR you can reset the voice to Mono. It's hard to do a quick A/B, but I have the impression that the electronic <Mono> setting sounds better than relying on the cable switch to get a mono sound...might be my imagination though.crazydeep wrote: The other thing I noticed is that when playing the Nord through my favorite Roland KC200 amp, it sounds like crap! But when listening to the sounds on my headphones, they're just stunning! Time to switch!
I have a pair of KC350s that I use for big rooms and it rocks the sounds on the Electro 6. I also have a pair of JBL LSR305s for smaller rooms, but I'll often take just one of the JBLs for a small coffee shop solo piano gig. At home I use the JBLs for both studio monitoring and practice/monitoring

Re: New to the Nord Electro World!
I have a 3HP (that I can't bear to part with and still use for outdoor gigs) and a new 6HP that is increasingly in the workflow. For both of them, I auditioned pretty much every voice in the library, made a list of the ones I liked and then wiped my piano and custom configured all the sounds. I carefully considered which of the pianos were worth lots of memory and which were just extra. Ended up with 28 pianos and 3.4MB of unused memory (in the 6HP).
I'm still building layered sounds and split configurations (e.g. just finished a split for that I will use for accompanying singers that has the synth <Fretless Bass> and the <Nefertiti> Rhodes)
