NPSM

Post by bluesbaba »

Nord piano sound module (NPSM)?
Yeah , that would be a killer new box from Clavia .
4 gig of memory , a simple interface with a couple of knobs .
It would sell tons !
Did we allready discuss it on the forum ?

I would buy one... i suspect many would.

That said, i do love the stage presence of a big red keyboard with Nord on it. That is something unique and special in itsself.

I don't see it. Nord Piano is $3k. How much less might it be without the keys, maybe it would be $2k? One of the best things about the Nord is the operational ergonomics, which you'd lose. Without that, you could get as good or better sounds from a laptop for less money.

I concur. As lovely as the Nord Piano Library is, that’s the one thing that’s *least* interesting about their hardware in a studio context (which is where rack units are mostly used).

I fullyree and We know that Nord in the past had the Nord Electro Rack, then they discontinued it and never reintroduced any equivalent product so far... guess why?

I don't think it'd be a winner. Why not use a laptop with gigabytes of samples? For me, the appeal of the Nord is its playability *and* its sounds.

Stability.

I switched from mainstage to keyboard sounds for stability and convenience. Setting up one keyboard was far handier and way more stable than a laptop for a 2 hour gig. Also looks slicker for a ceremony type thing. With a rack you'd at least get the stability but not the convenience of it being contained in a single keyboard.
