Quiet/Still/Warm Pad Patch
Hi,
First my apologies if I have used the wrong forum group - while I have had my Stage Classic for some years, I am brand new to this forum
I have been looking for a quiet/still/warm pad patch to use for background music - where there is reasonable attack (not too slow in the note changes playing through), non-sweeping (unlike the best I could find on the factory settings (Saturnus)
A pad similar to that of "Legato" on the Yamaha Motif series, and going back a few years, "Warm Pad" on the Roland XP80 - might also be called "Analog" on some keyboards
Can anyone help please?
Thank you very much in advance
Richard

Welcome to the forum!
This is my favorite Prophet 5 pad that I've replicated many times over the years.
It sounds very similar to "Warmth" on the XP series.
I wasn't able to find "Legato" on my Motif.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Quiet/Still/Warm Pad Patch
Hi Hanon,
Thanks heaps for this! It sounds great! Thinking back, I think it might have been called Analog on the Motif8... but my memory is fading with age...
I find the .nspg patches work for me but the .nss ones do not - hopefully there is a straightforward reason for this, as earlier I found around 6 strings patches that I believe are by you, but they are in .nss format and it'll only allow me to load .nspg files?
Thanks again, really appreciate it

You're right, the Analog sound was on the Motif "PRE2 066 Analog".
My patch needs more chorus amount, and the chorus rate needs to be faster.
The .nss files are Synth presets.
I'm not certain, but I believe that if you go to the "Synth Tab" of Nord Sound Manager, it should allow you to load them there.
There could be a difference between my NSEx and the Classic.
Please post back and let me know if it works.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Quiet/Still/Warm Pad Patch
Hi Hanon,
Thanks for that - I was able to load them on the Synth Tab in Nord Sound Manager. Though having been mainly a 'preset' guy, looks like I can only use them in the Nord if I grab an existing Synth patch (when at the Nord keyboard), and change the "Sound Select Category", which means the sound has the existing patch's effects settings that I would need neutralise (presumably) - but if this is as good as it can get, it's still fantastic!
You don't happen to know how to use the pianos (downloaded files) off the Nord website do you? I first deleted some of the keyboard's pianos, and then loaded 1 or 2 of the new pianos (very large files!) into the Nord Sound Manager - but I think I'm missing a few steps as I can't see any programs on the Nord keyboard to play them with (and the existing piano sounds that I deleted play nothing - understandably)...
Anyway even if you can't help with this, thank you for the help with the patches - greatly appreciated

If your NSC was connected when you moved the new pianos into Sound Manager that should have started a 6~10 minute process of loading the sample into the instrument.
The Nord pianos (.npno) should be thought of as a building block, but not so much as a program.
If you'll go to one of your existing acoustic piano programs, you'll probably find more than one of them with the "type" red led number flashing now (by the dynamics button) When you hit the dynamics button without the shift button, it changes the acoustic piano sample associated with the current program to something that's in your instrument.
The alpha-numeric display should momentarily display the name of the piano sample then revert back to the program name.
Cheers, Hanon

Re: Quiet/Still/Warm Pad Patch
Sounds real good Hanon, any chance you can upload it for the NE3?

I'll get it done and uploaded by tomorrow.
Cheers, Hanon
{edit}added sample and demo.
This sample was made using the NSEx as the source, with all effects turned off.
The demo was recorded using the NE3 as a source with Hall Reverb, and Chorus2, with a slight increase in Bass and Treble EQ.
"These are the chords from Jan Hammer's Miami Vice, Crockett's theme".
