The "Unoficial"Nord forum

Post by Bachus »

It states this is the unofficial Nord Keyboards forum..

But why unofficial?

Since Nord is linking to these forums directly from their website.

How much support id there from Nord/Clavia for and on these forums?

As far as I know, no connection or support at all, financial or otherwise.

It's simply a community grown out of the passion and effort of Nord enthusiasts.
It's true that it is linked in their website, but it's nothing unusual: almost every company has some dedicated forum/Facebook/Yahoo user community.

They are not official spaces and are not meant to be, otherwise they wouldn't be impartial, user reviews and criticism would be filtered, etc. Nobody wants something like that: not the users, who want to hear diverse opinions and real world experiences, but neither the company, that gets real-world info and commentaries on its products that no beta testing and quality control can substitute.

So yes, it's normal that such communities exist, are known to companies that actively encourage them by promoting them on their website and reading the contents (and sometimes participating), but there's mutual interest to keep them independent and "unofficial".

Hey guys,

I love this forum, extremely valuable.

I don`t have any information with respect to direct support by Nord, financially or whatsoever either. However, experience of life and knowing how business works strongly suggest that this forum is not truely independent.

The name "unofficial..." tells its own tale. Forum members, who make a living or part of it, from Nord products, please raise your hands. I am pretty sure, there is indirect influence, at least. Again, it is just my suspicion. And I don't mind. I love the Nord products, I have greatest respect for such a small company which is successfully competing with giants like Rolands and Yamahas. I just want to be conscious ...

Best,
Joepno

Dear Joepno, all:

sorry I meant to reply earlier but forgot.
But just for the record: this forum is both organizationally and financially completely independent from Clavia and NORD!
When I started this forum as a small Nord Stage Subforum, at some point the Head of Marketing contacted me and we briefly discussed whether it was possible to run such a brand-related forum, and how to make it clear that it was completely separate from them. During this converstation, we agreed that the "unofficial" in the title would be needed and also sufficient to make this point clear.
There IS a link on their website in the support section, and I agreed to have it there, but so are links to other music forums with Nord sections (e.g., in French).
In fact, since then (that is, when the link was placed on their website), I or any member of the team, have never had any contact with NORD staff over this forum.
As is know to most around here, Pablo has been a very active and helpful member of this forum, while also being the official NORD support contact for the US, yet he participates on this forum on a purely private and voluntary basis.

I am aware that these days, more then eve,r if and how far some type of internet news, information, and even forum discussions are driven by economic, policical, or personal (vested) interest.

Yet, I hope that you could kindly accept this statement at least to understand a bit the background. Everyone is free to have his/her own opinions and suspicions, yet I can only try to convince you that this forum is indeed completely independent of NORD/Clavia.

If you're more interested in the structure and history of this forum, please read this first topic: http://www.norduserforum.com/off-topic- ... t1012.html
or have a look at the forum rules: http://www.norduserforum.com/forum_rules.php

One thing I DO agree with you is that independence IS crucial for such a website, which is why I try to answer your concerns as careful as possible.

Best regards,

Johannes
