A good Van Halen Jump sound here.
We sometimes do 'Jump' in our band and my patches never sounded 'BIG' enough. Over time I sculpted this sound, which seemed to work well live with our set up. I doubled the octave on the low C for a start.
There is actually another very nice 'Jump' sound on here that is probably more accurate than mine - but I found my sound worked for us live, perhaps it would for others!
Here recorded with a bit of 'Hall' Reverb on the NE3.

Funny, we just practiced this one tonight...But I'm using two sounds; One on my stage 2 found on this forum and one on my Matrix 1000...I can tell you, it's big, the guitarist always says "Philippe, not too loud..."

Nice! Yes, I found I needed those extra layers too - I guess on the studio version they could make it big in the mix even with a simple sound.
One this i forgot to sample was the high C string note over the chorus. I might add that in. Do you do that ? It seemed to make a big difference too

On the original recording I believe they re-amped the Oberheim through a bunch of guitar amps.

Re: A good Van Halen Jump sound here.
It's not only a C on Strings, during the bridge it's a complete part but I just do it on my D50 which is on top of the Stage 2 and I hold the sustain pedal and put a long release...it works well, you just have to have a good timing with your Right hand, between the C/D/G last chord on "Brass" and the first G/B/D...a little bit tricky but I do it...I do the same for the "pedal note" on Bb on Purple Rain, at the end...

Re: A good Van Halen Jump sound here.
Thanks a lot for the amazing patch!
Newbie q. here! How do I get the Jump sound to work? Do I simply drag and drop the .nsmp file using the Nord Sound Manager to the Nord Electro keyboard?
