I am also waiting for Your new FM Sounds. I think many of the sounds in the sample library can built with the synth machine and as You stated there is then much more fun playing and tweeking...

Well here goes. I finally sat down and started putting this together. I did it as a document, as I figured people would want to work through it with their instrument.
I added some basic synth background for those new to it, but if you just want to know FM you can jump to that section.

First draft - so its rough and ready, but usable. Feedback, corrections and constructive criticism welcomed!

Once I complete the guide to making the other types of sounds i've mentioned, i'll post them as .ns2p programs for the lazy ones :D

UPDATE: I've uploaded a newer version of this guide - see later in this thread. When it's completed I will post it as a new topic so it's easier to find.

Hej Neo!

This looks very promising, nice and tidy ... I'll read it carefully at the (boring) office tomorrow!
Perhaps I'm even going to fetch my NS2 from the attic some day ... ;)

EDIT: Brilliant! I've read version 1.0 thoroughly now and I'm really looking forward to the next version. Thanks, mate!

Thank you Neolithic!
Thanks! When I finally buy an NLA1 I will do an updated version for that synth! Meanwhile I am sure you will find there is some stuff that is relevant to the NLA1

Hi neolithic

Great. Just printed out and start to read and try out on my NS2 …

Question: which program is the oscilloscope and how to install it in a manner when I twiddle the knobs on the NS2 that I can see what happens on the oscilloscope.

I think it's called v64 - but if you google software oscilloscope you will find lots. Most are designed for electronic engineering use, so go,for a simpler one as possible
You need to run the audio signal into your PC same as if you are recording into a DAW. As far as how to configure and use the oscilliscope software, I predict a 20 page thread coming, which I want to avoid if I can ;)

Thank you so far, I am very much looking forward for more, I think the instruction manual covers the synth part way to superficially - As a beginner I would like to have a thorough guide showing me the possibilities - and especially focusing on the Stage 2 synth. I find it difficult to relate a general - "tutorial focus on subtractive ('analog') synthesis" to the Stage 2 .

And don't be afraid of repeating whats in the few pages in the manual, if it clears up the different subjects.

Gunleik :-)
