Strings with "Sharp" attack?
Hi all,
the new Symphobia springs sound great, but I still lack a string sound with a
"Sharp" attack and fast response on my NS3. I've tried to adjust the attack on the existing Samples but still not good enough. Anyone with a Sample out there?

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
The Nord samples are good, but not very accustomed for melodic lines. All of them are very slow except maybe the " StudioStr Leg Vib KH ste v2.0 Ensemble strings " which was my go to strings before I found the ones I will suggest now. Funny thing is that the new Project SAM nord samples have a fastattack edition which is rather poor to say it lightly. I guess you can download them from the sample collection since I have them from a long time.

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
I have the same problem, but I'm starting to suspect it's not really an issue of the samples, but rather of the envelopes which are not fast enough.
On my Stage 2, no matter which sample I use (most evident on strings and even worse on brass) I can't get a really sharp, "biting" attack.
It always sounds like it takes the Amp Envelope (or filter? or both?) a few milliseconds to open.
Not bad, but not really good either. On fast repeated brass hits (typical of funky) or fast sharp strings, it's definitely noticeable.

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
I think you need to take a look at the "Fast attack" option for samples, described in the manual on page 35.

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
I'm a Stage 2 user, but that feature is present too, it's called "Skip Sample Attack" and activated with the Shape knob. I completely forgot about it, I will check it out as soon as I'm home and let you know if it works.ameinild wrote:I think you need to take a look at the "Fast attack" option for samples, described in the manual on page 35.
In the meantime, thanks for the hint!

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
Cheers!
Yeah, although I haven't used it myself that much yet, I have a feeling that if you try to get fast attack strings NOT using this option, then you'll end up disappointed!

Re: Strings with "Sharp" attack?
I´ve not been aware of this feature, but it really improved the usage of the Symphobia samples.
