Get a triple pedal from 3 ordinary pedals

Post by DrNeurus »

Hi all,

I've been thinking of an adapter to convert up to 3 pedals into one fake "triple pedal" using this simple circuit (thanks to all happy owners of a NTP for your information, Patshi and bertpeeters). This will not make any half-pedaling, unless you use a special pedal for sustain, but at least should allow you to use the una corda function with an ordinary pedal, which is not possible currently on a NS2 or NP.

You will need:
1 TRS stereo plug
3 mono jacks
1 resistor 10K
1 resistor 5.6K
some cable (does not need to be audio cable, or shielded, any cable should work).

You can solder the resistors inside the jacks with care of not doing any short circuit.

Then you can plug any type of pedal or switch to the jacks.

I have not build it yet, but if anybody does let me know if it works :)

Hi, where did you get the schematics? Are you completely sure that this is accurate?

I have some free time, so I guess I could give it a try, but I would not want to waste my money on getting three sustain pedals :-S

:) No, I am not sure until I test it. I did the schematic by myself based on the measurements and observations published by triple-pedal owners. When I have some spare time I will build one. The good thing is that you don't need to have 3 pedals to test. You can test with one pedal at a time and then decide if you need two or three.

Right, of course let's clarify that with the proposed schematic the sustain pedal will still be on-off (no half-pedal), nevertheless this schematic will enable to have the latch pedal on the sustain connector and leave the Rotor/latch input free for... rotor switch pedal ;)

I would suggest to build it as a small box with 3 jack mono-inputs and 1 stereo output, with the resistors and jacks wired inside the box, for easy replacement of pedals to be used.

Hi,
has anyone buile it till yet?

@maxpiano: I think that it doesn´t work together. I understand the manual in the way that you have only the option to use latch or the rotor switch... ):

Rotor/Latch Pedal Func
This allows you to change the functionality of a switch pedal connected
to the Rotor/Latch input on the Stage 2. Such a pedal can be used to
control the rotor speed or act as a latch/sostenuto pedal....

Range: Latch, Rotor Hold (default), Rotor Toggle

If there are other opinions, tell me because this will be a good reason the build the box or use the triple pedal....

Cheers

Reiner

Yes of course, what I mean is that you will be able to use the Rotor Pedal input for Rotor Switch, since you will have the Latch pedal on the "home made triple pedal" ;)

PS: personally I haven't built it, yet...

As far as I can say the contruction by DrNeurus should work.
