Ocean wave sound...?

Post by afroskully »

About to play a gig recreating the entire pulp fiction soundtrack. I'm looking for a sample of the sound of the ocean that intro's the 'Bustin' Surfboards' song but can't seem to find one here. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

If you have a Windows computer and Audacity, you can find the song online, play it, and record it digitally using the Windows WASAPI setting.

http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tuto ... ndows.html

Per the Audacity help page:
"WASAPI loopback has an advantage over stereo mix or similar inputs provided by the soundcard that the capture is entirely digital (rather than converting to analog for playback, then back to digital when Audacity receives it)."

Of course, if you already have a digital copy of the song, you could just edit that.

Audacity runs on Mac OS too, just download that version from https://www.audacityteam.org then directly edit the original waveform of that song (assuming you can download it) to "cut" the part you need. If you can't download the original audio, then read http://manual.audacityteam.org/man/tuto ... n_mac.html

Another option could be to download an ocean WAV file from the FreeSound.org site (for i.e. https://freesound.org/people/xserra/sounds/161700/) and import it in the Nord Sound Editor.

Here is a sample I use for Dock Of The Bay. There is a little longer delay between the "waves" and some boat/dock rocking effects in it. But it may serve your purpose as well. This is the first time I have submitted a sample to the forum.... So I hope it works OK.
