"Baba O'Riley" by The Who. One of my first attempts at creating a NSMP file was sampling the synth in "Baba O'Riley". As the song is slightly sharp in pitch, my first step after sampling the intro was to drop the pitch consistent with A-440, however initially I couldn't figure out why two different audio editing software packages were yielding identical, but poor, results when I attempted to change the pitch of a small segment. Both apps were incorrectly changing the sample duration. Forum moderator Mr_-G- indicated that the solution was making sure a box was checked in Audacity to "use high quality stretching (slow)" when doing a pitch correction, so I downloaded the latest version and was off to the races. After completing the first sample, I then started on the second sample for the right-hand 32nd notes. Using Audacity I cut off the last half of each 16th note from the intro sample (C, D, F, G), and then cut-n-pasted the first half again to make 32nd notes. Based on my Stage 3 post with the samples I created, Marc Larochette (My Keys To Music) posted a video showing folks how to put together the Stage 3 program:

"Africa" by Toto. Sampled from two Stage 3 programs I put together, the NSMP file covers the intro and main part of the song including the solo synth sound used in the 2nd verse (heard at the end of the MP3).

"How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston. A request from Forum member Cosmic1 for this song took me down a path of setting up three Stage 3 programs for the song and then deciding to create an all-encompassing NSMP sample for a broader group of Nord keyboards. In the attached MP3, I'm playing along with the intro percussion loop and all sounds you hear with the exception of the DX7, and later B3 and Piano reinforcing key change for the solo/ending, are within the single sample created. Whitney Houston had such an incredible voice, we'll never know the depth of the loss on what could have been. Hopefully some of you will be able to use this. Take care.

"Word Up" by Cameo NSMP Sample. With quite a few synth sounds in this song, I took a different approach for this one and did all the programming on my Stage 3 with the intent of making the NSMP sample. On the MP3 I play along with the sampled drum intro, but the looped drum track is also included for reference in the NSMP sample. No effects are used for the MP3 except Hall reverb. "Abacab" by Genesis. Based on my Stage 3 program , I put together a NSMP sample covering the left hand "organ" sound of the Prophet 10 and right-hand Arp synth. The MP3 has the intro drum loop with the recording's intro C note, and then I come in with the sample with reverb.

"Have Faith". Here are examples of two samples I put together layering soft strings, voices, and a B3. In the MP3 I play the first sample that has a Hammond 888000000 setting and then the second sample with a Hammond 888853535 setting. A White Grand and reverb were added to the MP3 example with no additional settings required. Among other options, creative EQ settings. tapering off the Freq, and/or bringing up the Resonance will give you additional Pad options.

"Too Much Time On My Hands" by Styx. A simple one but covering most of the bases, I put together a NSMP sample and Stage 3 program for this song covering the Synth and sound effects. "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. Here's another example of taking multiple Stage 3 programs and combining them into a single NSMP sample for use in other Nord keyboards. To save sample memory space, I also created a smaller NSMP file where you can add your own analog brass sound with your other synth panel. For both samples, a few notes were included to allow transposing down a half step. The links to the NSMP sample and Stage 3 program I used for the MP3 demo are provided below. Take care.

"When It's Love" by Van Halen. Forum member Nordmutt2 was looking for a program for this song to cover the synth along with the "click" at the beginning of notes played (posted at nord-stage-3-programs-ns3p-ns3pb-files- ... ml#p142083). Here's a sample of that program adding Reverb and a White Grand only. The click level can be adjusted up or down somewhat with the EQ if needed, however if you want the level down a little, first try backing off the initial attack slightly by setting the AMP ENV Attack at 1 to 2 if you have that on your Nord. "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who. Here's a sample of the organ as used in my Stage 3 program for this song posted at nord-stage-3-programs-ns3p-ns3pb-files- ... ml#p109770. I sampled this with the LFO emulating the triggering effect used but with the wah effect turned off so that it can be applied by the user. The MP3 was created by applying the wah effect, EQ, and reverb to the sample.

"Squid Game". A strange but catchy theme song
I made a sample for Squid Game for a Forum member using the first note from a video, making duplicates of it, changing the pitch of each, and importing the resulting wav file into the Nord Sample Editor. The repeating voices for the right split could have been created from the same note however having my Stage 3 available, I used a different voice sample with the arpeggiator. "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" by Michael Jackson. Having not seen a new sample posted for some time on the Forum, I put together a few quick ones for the bass in this song. The samples are a combination of an analog-type synth bass and a DX7/Digital Piano sample behind it in the mix.

Nord Stage 3 "Hammond" B3. For the Nord Piano and Grand folks especially, I've posted 32 samples of the Nord Stage 3 B3 with the drawbar settings and other information provided in the file names. "SL" indicates Slow Leslie, "C2" is Chorus 2, "3rd" is the 3rd Harmonic, and so on. Only reverb is needed to get what you hear in the MP3 examples.
