Hello, at this link I've posted a spreadsheet of the settings assigned when Dynamics is enabled for each of the 25 sample categories using NSE4. It might provide a little more flexibility for some of the samples you create.

PS: I see that I didn't read carefully -- you CAN set the loop points, just not the start. But the same workaround should apply.

Yeah this is exactly my problem. Setting a loop range is a much more complex calculation than just setting a start point, and it works so damn well, especially with this great crossfade feature. I couldn't live without this feature any more. So I wonder if tuning in a start point when all samples are selected shouldn't be a big deal for a future update? But this is only wish number #2 on my all time Nord editor wish list.

Number #1 is absolutely that when Nord Sound Manager and Nord Sound Editor are both running you should not always be forced to plug in and out again your instrument when you use the one or the other program. Why not let those 2 programs share the same Nord USB connection? Another trick could be to merge the Editor with the Manager into 1 Program. Then my NW1 or NW2 could stay connected.

How do I get normalize to work properly? I sampled an instrument but some samples were louder and some quieter, so I needed to normalize them all to the maximum level. Well, there is "normalize" in the toolbar, but when I select it, nothing changes on the samples?

I would normalize the samples wav files before importing them into the Nord Sample Editor, using a tool like Audacity

I use Audacity (free) for normalizing my WAV files as well. If you recorded your notes directly into NSE4, the Media folder should contain the WAV files created for viewing/editing with audio software like Audacity.

I just tried NSE4 with a WAV file of brass samples lowered by 10db to test it. As you noted, no difference at all in the samples when listening to them in the project, however it's possible that normalization is applied when the Nord sample is created. You would have to create two different samples, with and without normalization, and load then into your keyboard to know if that's true. The "easy button" would be to report the problem as a bug to Clavia (Nord) and see what their response is on the matter. It's possible that it is a bug that needs to be addressed, but having not used the function, I can't say.

One thing to note, if "Normalize" works as described in the online manual, it adjusts all sampled notes individually to the same level, however that might not be an authentic recreation of the instrument sampled. I typically sample the entire range of an instrument and then Normalize the entire range as one, not the notes individually. Below is a picture of the notes of a brass sample; if each note was normalized to its max, it's character would be different on the low end.

Thank you for your suggestions, I appreciate your feedback in a rather silent forum like this. Well, it was my wish to avoid the extra use of Audacity (which I love but I use it all the time for music edits on my work PC) and to manage simply all editing in one go with the Nord Sample App on my new Mini Mac Pro. Deeper Explanation: I use the microphone input via split cable on the Mini Mac and had hard times gain staging the input level in Audacity. However I found a sweet spot with great sound quality in the Nord Sample Editor and it is really fun to record my synths directly there.

Sadly, the "normalizing" is not transferred to the Nord Wave, as there I still noticed my samples being at different levels. So I guess it just seems a bug. But then I don't understand why Nord promotes this feature in their online guide.

Hi, can someone please explain, is it possible to edit a sample (nsmp3 file) which had been downloaded from internet, in Nord sample editor? I downloaded the sample and loaded it in NS3, using program manager, but now I need to change some parameters in the sample file. Somehow I do not see any option for loading that sample in Nord sample editor. I don't want to resample it, just tweet some thing in the sample file... Thx
