Please help me with Set List Maker and NS2

Hi all!

I'm a new user, currently struggling to set up Set List Maker to control patch/program changes on my Nord Stage 2 EX.

I've read multiple threads throughout the forum already about similar issues but though I've tried implementing them I just cannot make the app change the sounds on my keyboard. I also scoured through the entire tutorial page provided by the app but no matter what I do, when I tap the song on the app it won't change the patch on my keyboard. I must be missing something obvious.

Does it matter if I go through the USB output on the Nord or the MIDI IN/OUT? I have used both, but only the MIDI ports seem to do anything when I use the 'Midi Learn' function in the SLM app.

In terms of the app, what I've been doing is after creating a database and setting up the MIDI device in the settings, is making a song, going into Midi Presets, adding a preset that corresponds to the Bank/Page/Program number (according to the Excel sheets I've downloaded from this forum) but when I tap the song on the iPad, my Nord stays exactly as is, not a patch change to be seen.

Maybe I'm missing the absolute beginners course in the forum somewhere as every topic I've seen on this has users recommending the person go and look through the forum for info but none of the info has been so step-by-step for an absolute MIDI newbie like myself to actually get this thing working. Are there any other places I could find a full tutorial video/document that goes through the setup step by step or can someone be kind enough to give me some useful newbie friendly pointers?

What app are you using?
Maybe you could use the Nord Sound manager to arrange your songs.

I'm using Set List Manager on iOS. I'd prefer not to use the laptop as I'd like to quickly make patch changes on the fly while playing live and don't really want to sit scrolling through songs on a laptop.

I guess you already have some kind of camera connection kit or a Blutooth to midi interface so your ios unit can communicate through the midi port ?
Then it should be a matter to set your Nord to recieve program change on the correct midi channel.

Unfortunately yes, I've made sure of all of this already, all my midi messages send and receive are turned on.
And I am using the Apple Lightning to USB Camera Adapter to connect the iPad to my NS2.

Out of curiosity, what iPad model and iOS version are you on?
And how about the reverse MIDI scenario: are you able to play an iOS music app from your NS2 (i.e., does the app recognize NS2 note on/off data)?

I'm on a 4th gen iPad running iOS 10.
I haven't tried the reverse out, I'll have a look at it.

Don’t forget to add “NS2” to MIDI devices BEFORE importing the text file

I also noticed the MIDI learn function not to be working, it worked a few SLM app versions earlier.... I hope the dev fixes this problem...

Thanks MartinJ2EX, I ran across that thread while doing research but I'm clueless as to how to implement text files, so I'm just doing it manually for now.
BUT great news, I figured it out! I had read on another thread to set the Global Midi Channel to 1 which I had been doing BUT what that person didn't mention is that you actually need to change that setting so you see the Global Channel as USB rather than MIDI which it is defaulted to. Once I did that everything spoke to each other perfectly!

One other question I have now for those willing to assist, is there an easy way to flip between more than one MIDI Preset within a song? Currently I have to tap and hold on the Midi icon to get the drop down menu in order to select the other preset I have setup. Now, doing this live will just not be viable as I'll need to instantly switch between these sounds in a song and can't afford to wait for a drop down menu to change the preset. How do you manage this? Do you make separate songs instead or is there a quicker way to flip between multiple MIDI Presets (or Program Changes) that are within one song?
