Well, I'd really appreciate it if my NS2 could access the many hours of unique synth sounds I crafted on my Nord 'classic.' Being that the synth is all software, it seems like there ought to be a software solution. The fact that we're not able to do this or to even transfer our piano and organ sounds from the old to the new has been deeply frustrating. :-(

They have different engines. How do you translate parameters that do not exist in both instruments?

NS2 synth has more parameters than the classic, isn't it? If yes it should not be a problem to find a neutral position for the parameters not being in the classic.

No, having "more" parameters does not necessarily mean that you can always replicate exactly, if you are expecting perfection. The Stage synths are not backwards compatible in terms of the algorithms (like the DX7II was with respect to the DX7). Even if "approximations" are possible for many sounds, for sure it would not be so for others and people would complain that the translations are bad and "does not sound at all like the original", etc. I kind of understand Nord not providing a "translator". Just consider they are different instruments and enjoy spending time creating new sounds that you could not before. ;-)

Did a search in this area for terms including AC, cable, cord, power and didn't see anything.

And so, while I'm very pleased the NS2 has internal power supply instead of wall wart, or 'brick' - what's with the type of (proprietary?) connector on the supplied power cord at the keyboard end?!

Even though there's no ground, I think it would be beneficial if a standard 3 prong power cable could be utilized. The receptor on the Nord could still just be two contacts, but in the sort of D shape of the 3 prong cable, with a blank ground space. Unless this wouldn't be 'to code' or in violation of some safety rule. When gigging with a lot of gear, it's just one more thing to have to think about, instead of being able to use a standard cable... standard here in North America anyway; not sure what they use 'over there' :)

Those power cords are not proprietary -- they are VERY common. Both my laptop chargers use them, as does my wife's camera charger and light-duty printer.

Newer Nord models do use the connector type you mention, but to avoid confusion it is best have all units of any partivular model be the same.

Twice (in 3+ years) I've found myself at gigs sans power cord. Scrounging from backstage rooms for old defunct lamps, etc, harvested spare power cords. Strip insulation from cut ends and very carefully wrap bare wires around the two pins in the receptacle socket on the back of the Nord. Plastic drink can straws work well for insulators -- just be careful not to disturb wires for the night.

Hi all,

I'd like to bring up the topic "Triple Pedal" again. ;)
It's such an cool idea to simulate those noises you can create with the pedal.
But then as expensive as it is I am disappointed because of the missing possibilities to assign other functions:
  • e.g. assign Rotary Speed to the middle oder left pedal. I prefer independent controller functions - especially when playing in Split- oder Dual-Mode.
  • I would like to assign the right pedal for sustain on Panel A and the left pedal for sustain on Panel B - even if it is played in Dual-Channel-Mode.
  • A general issue (as far I see it): why does it have to be an additional sustain pedal when playing on a external MIDI instrument in Dual-Mode? This also concerns other controller functions like morphing with swell controller etc. Except for the Organ Swell you need an additional Swell pedal. Currently it would seem that a guitar player lost his controllers when looking at my controller equipment... ;)
  • If routing other functions to the triple pedal is not possible then a smaller "single pedal" with the noise functions would be a logical consequence - IF the Nord guys like their customers! Currently I use the triple pedal at home when rehearsing more classical music and Jazz. As far as my Pop-/Soul-Band keyboard-setup is concerned the Triple Pedal is not an option as is it far too heavy to transport in relation to its possibilities on stage.
I look forward to hear any comments to my wishes! :thanks:
