Thanks for the tutorial, great work. Am I right in that when the dual KB mode is used, the external midi keyboard cannot be split while controlling slot B, but the Nord Stage 2 keyboard controlling slot A will still allow the splits as long as the sounds selected are from slot A?

Hi everybody!
My name is Aysser and I'm from Brazil, so sorry about my english.
I have a NS2EX as slave and a Roland AX Synth as a master. I would like to record my favorites panel in the AX, in order to call the programs in the NS2 trought the AX.
The programs in the NS2 has the 0 ~ 99 channels, and the 5 live memories from 100 to 104. When I save a favorite in the AX, the NS2 calls the 5 live memories, but any of the 0 ~ 99 programs - so, it didn't recognize the AX messages from 0 to 99... I've tried all the attempts, manuals, researches... unfortunatelly had no success..
Anyone could help me?
Regards...
Aysser

Hi Aysser,

Welcome on this forum!
It is wise to use the search function before making a new topic (as mentioned in the rules section). There a lot of already answered topics about this.

But as newcomer I will push you in the right direction.

Yeah I tried to look it up in the manual, but it seems a little bit fuzzy in there.
For your convenience
Program Change
In the MIDI Menu, you can select if the Nord Stage 2 should send and/ or receive program Change messages on the Global channel that af- fects its internal programs . Program Change messages with the value 0-99 selects the programs in the active bank (which you can select using the Bank Select, Program Change messages 100-104 selects the 5 Live memories .

Bank Select
The 4 Program Banks in the Stage 2 can be remotely selected via MIDI, by transmitting a Bank Select Message that looks like this: CC 0, value 0, CC 32 value 0, 1, 2 or 3 (for banks A, B, C and D) . The Bank Select should immediately be followed by a Program Change message, value 0-99.
I've made an excel sheet (with macro's) where you can enter the bank (A/B/C/D) and program location 1-5 and it will calculate the corresponding prorgram

Hi Berretje,

Thank you for the welcome and the answer!
Yes, I've search and read all the topics here, sites, manuals, before asking here.... and I've made all the attempts with all possible configurations between both keyboards, but it didn't work.

I did the same configuration between the AX and my Jupiter 50 and it worked perfectly!
For any reason that I cannot understand, the NS2 doesn't recognize the AX messages between 0-99. Once the one difference between 0-99 and 100-105 message sent by the AX is the bank select value, I believe that the NS2 is not to able to differenciate the previous message: CC 0, value 0, CC 32 value 0, 1, 2 or 3 (for banks A, B, C and D). It understand that the programs are only the 5 live memories. And the AX has no function where I can change the CC, this messages are previous set in this memory...

So, I give up my attempts, unfortunatelly.
However, I appreciate your goodwill and attempt to help me.

Regards!
Aysser

Hello Aysser,

Can your AX send out LSB/Program change?
I've attached an excel file where you can calculate the LSB/Program change from a Nord Program.

I use program changes on my NS2 all the time (in gigs) and it works perfect, but I don't use the CC values but only LSB/PC commands.

Hello Berretje!

If i'm not wrong, the AX can send the LSB/ program change.
The AX sends CC:00 87, CC:32 0 ~ 1.
See below it's MIDI implementation chart:

When I change voices in the bank 4 (lead guitar), the NS2 change the 5 live memories. Although, nothing happens when I change to others locations.
I pluged the NS2 MIDI OUT to the AX MIDI IN, trying to do the opposite control, and the NS2 could change the locations in the AX, so, the AX recognizes the information, but not the opposite.

The NS2 recognizes the alocations from 5 (OctSearingGt) to 9 (Fuzz), but any other.

Aysser

Dear .. I am new to the world nord. I have a stage 3 and I need to control it from Logix pro. I'm going to write an external midi track and I need to make a program change. I cannot understand how to write the respective programs and banks that I need. I can't decipher the commands and how to write them in the manual.

From Chile in South America I thank you for your work and help.

You search, you find; take a look at this thread (found searching "nord stage 3 lsb"): nord-stage-forum-f3/ns3-update-and-song ... 17041.html ;)

Hi guys,
Still a rookie with my Nord stage 3. I need your help.
I use my Nord stage 3 through my DAW (Reason 11), and it works fine until I want to make some automation on a track already recorded; can't do that so far! when I press record it deletes automatically my track, so I can just do automation while I play and record, once it's done, and I want to add some automation here and there, press record, and it deletes everything. You see what I mean?
Are there parameters on my Nord stage 3 I have to make?
Thanks in advance:)
