Piano And Strings Sample Help Needed!

Hello there,
I would like to ask all the members of this forum for help.I love my nord electro 3 because it sounds spectacular.I really miss one layered ,Piano and Strings and El. Piano and Strings.If anyone have managed to create a good sample of this layered instruments please help me out and post or send some to my email(tsetso123@gmail.com).I would like to address this question to the whole nord team. They could put that on there website in the sample library. The piano and strings and el piano and strings are very very important for playing pop music and it could be very generous of them to put that on the sample library in addition to the two piano and pad they have already put. Well again please help out this is big for me and i suppose for hundreds more nord electro users.

Hi Tsvetan and welcome!
Indeed a frequently used patch that is a priori not possible on the NE3 (see also this thread: http://www.norduserforum.com/nord-elect ... -t732.html).

But what SHOULD be possible is using some piano sample plus a strin gsample and editing them cleverly together in the Nord Sample Editor using appropriate attack, looping etc. Since I don't have a NE I won't be of much help (until I get a NS2 at least), but maybe someone with a NE3 already got a sample (.nsmp) file for what you want.
But be aware you will for sure only have one velocity layer, i.e., loose the expressiveness of a more realistic Piano patch, but for a standard Rock/Pop setting it should work IMHO.

I'm arguably the most prolific sample creator and sharer on the forum.
What you're asking for is extremely difficult from the perspective of the current set of Nord Sample Editor features.
The first difficulty is being limited to just a single velocity layer for the piano, in other words, it'll be the same piano sound whether you play pp or ff.
The next difficulty will be the strings portion. Like Johannes pointed out, the strings will have to have a loop point after the piano has decayed completely, this will result in an extraordinarily large sample file in the range of 7 to 10 Meg.

I think the better solution would be to get a "box of sounds" like a pre-owned Roland XV-2020 or Kurzweil Micro Ensemble.
These are smaller half rack midi tone module units that have really good strings, and can be had for $200 to $300.

This doesn't mean that I'm not going to try to deliver a good usable piano/ strings layer, because I do love a good challenge ;)

Hopefully I can come up with something.

The demo was played using my NE3-61.
The piano sound for the sample was the Grand Lady D Steinway LRG and the synth strings was Basic Strings AD from my NSEx.

Hello again,
I am impressed of how fast I've got proper answer for this topic.I also did try to do sample of piano and strings and I couldn't get the velocity right so I thought I was missing something. I already own Roland XV-5050 and I will start taking it on gigs so I can use it to get some strings form it. Just didn't like the idea to have the sound module on gig's only for playing strings out of it. I wouldn't change any other sound I mean I am happy with how the electro 3 sounds without layers and staff:) It looks like taking the sound module with me is the best option if I want everything to sound right.

you may want to try this EP and strings one also.
It uses EPiano 4 MK5 Ideal Close and the same Basic Strings AD as the previous.

When creating a.nsmp, use these settings to allow control of filter and volume via velocity.

I don't know if it works well because I haven't tried it yet, but there is a velocity dynamics button on the NE3 (it's in the piano section below the word piano). I think that could work too if you want to have velocity dynamics.
