Mixing Synths in Sample Editor?
Hey guys,
I was wondering if it is possible to create a new sample in the sample editor using existing sounds from the nord stage 2. Is there any possibility to load sounds from the nord into the sample editor, mix them and create a new one?
Cheers

Re: Mixing Synths in Sample Editor
To do that the only option is to sample the 2 Synths to .wav files using a manual Sampler tool or better an Autosampler such as SampleRobot for Win/Mac or the one embedded in MainStage/Logic (only for Mac) for example, same number of samples per octave and on the same keys (example every C and F#)
Then you have sum 1 by 1 the .wav files of the 2 synths on the corresponding keys, using an editor such as Audacity, to finally obtain the "summed" .wav Sampleset that you can use in Nord Editor, where you will have to map and (if needed) set the loop points on each.
Easy, isn't it?

not easy (yes, I know you were kidding, Max), but a learning experience for any who bother to make the effort. It is doable and as many here in this forum have ably demonstrated (Eumel and Mididiot come to mind, also Hanon), the results can be quite pleasing.

Re: Mixing Synths in Sample Editor?
Sorry to ask that, but why would it ruin Nord's business model to allow in sample editor the combination (NOT extraction) of two arbitrary nsmp files with a given split point, such as a strings at lower split and harp on the upper? OK one point less for the multitimbral Nord Stage but hey....
I was not delighted when I saw this wav limitation. They should call their editor "NSMP Sample Creator" instead because that is what the thing does. All right, it opens the door for new stuff but the clever combination of two existing samples bypassing the sample/sample split limitation of NE5 is efficiently disabled with that.
