Forgot to plug our recent 7" single on Burning Sole Records!

"Challenger" backed with "J's Pocket"

"J's Pocket" is one of my favourites, and it's more in keeping with our other stuff, but the label decided to B-Side it and front the single with the rather rowdy "Challenger" instead…

Our bass player came to rehearsal with the riff to "Challenger" and said "i hear muscle cars", and it kind of took off from there in an unexpected yet inevitable way…

Love these two tracks. Like you say, J's Pocket fits well with the other stuff of yours I've heard, strong hooky melodies woven through a variety of feels. Challenger's great though, there you really push the boundaries with that organ. The stereo effect from the Leslie is cool too, quite pronounced but not so much that it's disconcerting. How was the amp miked? The band rocks, great bass lines in those tracks.

I absolutely ADORE my bass player. I work with him in a few other projects, as well, including The Angels of Libra.

This is our latest release with that band (basically an in-house studio band for Yeah Yeah Yeah Studios; we do instrumentals and artist backing):

We co-wrote that song with the guitar player and the drummer on a day in the studio.

This was a prior instrumental with the same core band:

Very nice! That is a wonderful groove. I’ve never really played/used any of the organ patches, but this sure makes me understand what I am missing. Thanks for posting. Lovely.
