record with us - open source project

Post by TheJamLab »

Hello from The Jam Lab! http://www.jamlab.us YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIU0q7r ... Kl6BeRBkvA

We started the open source recording project in 1999 in Orlando Fl. We moved to Houston in 2003 and then Asheville, NC in 2006. We normally start a recording session of improvised music as a trio. These are sink or swim 100% improvisations. We sometimes use a chord framework or mostly just jump right in to it. Then we hope to find some jam worthy portions and post them on the web. Other musicians from around the world are then free to add their new parts to our tracks and post those results as a V-jam or Cyber-Jam. We have some incredible musicians contributing to this body of work.

We have hundreds of tracks posted on the mothership. My ISP is very rural, so have patience on downloads. The results vary according to the players on that session or cyber-jam. The styles include rock, jazz, blues, progressive. This includes traditional and experimental tracks. There are no musical rules.

This is your invitation to record some improvised music. To hear the NS3 piano in action check our Jam 4 Jeff (Lorber) southern style track. Fans of Alan Holdsworth need to check out Hugh Ferguson on guitar on the cyber-jams page. If you find a track you want to record let me know and I can build a mix with more room for your parts, if it is needed. There are folders with pre-mixed minus one instrument as well for you to record with. All are welcome!

Peace,
Kurt
