Flashback: The Magic of Santana

Post by analogika »

This was a band I was musical director and keyboardist for from 2010 to 2016.

Featuring the legendary Alex Ligertwood on lead, who sang the original cut on Santana's 1981 album "Zebop!". The wonderful Tony Lindsay, original vocalist for Santana from 1990-2015, features on backing vocals and some percussion.

Thanks to our drummer's GoPros, there's actually a full show's worth of multicam footage from my office, as it were, recorded on our tour of Spain in 2016.

I finished this mix and the video in time for the fifth anniversary of this gig, on January 31st.

I'll probably add two or three more songs from this show over the next few weeks.

Gear is a 1968 Hammond B3 into a Leslie 760, a Yamaha Motif XS6, and a Nord Stage 2 compact (since replaced by a Stage 3 compact).

Enjoy!

That's brilliant man, great band, especially the keys. Don't you hate it though how the keyboard player never gets enough airtime in these vids?

Excellent Band, good work Analogika. I would like to compliment your jacket also. That's an official Swiss Navy Admirals jacket.

Great, analogika, and thanks for sharing. I‘ve also watched some of the youtube followed videos, e. g. Black Magic Woman, and must admit congratulations to such memories! I envy you. Cheers from the middle of Germany

Thanks all for the kind words.

The coat was tailored for me by my friends at Torrox Hamburg to match original frock coat designs from the 17th century. They spent about 6 months researching designs and materials (especially the brocade — it's nearly impossible to get nice gold brocade these days: almost everything is cheap, chintzy carnival stuff from China).

Nice to see it appreciated, as well. :thanx:
