BACK FROM THE DRUMS!!!

Post by Quai34 »

Hi Guys,
I think I have done only one post in the past 3 years, not sure I have checked a lot the forum in fact because, well, in 2018 I started my own band and between transforming the Basement for pratcice and then putting into it a drums kit, I had a lot to do and no special needs to "bother you" anymore.
Anyway, so, 2 years to try to set up a pure dance/Pop band, post 2010 songs mainly for set 1, a mix of newer and older songs ala Chic/Niles Rogers for set 2 and more Indie Pop/Rock/Pop on set 3...To be ready for January 2019 and being the first live band playing at the Wedding Show for the past 30 years which was a big hit...and guess what happened in February 2019?

So, everything cancelled or course and even when the restrictions were fully removed, not a single of my members wanted to restart...well, nly 2 singers, my daughter and, Soprano and the Mezzo.

Yes, the band is 3 female singers with an Alto to sing the male songs, all female leading togtehr very often on Rap in "I Got a feeling" for example. So, as I had bought a Tama Royal Star 1978 in super shape, Maple kit, I decided to add some cymbals and got bitten by the willing to learn more about drums, manufacturing processes and collecting both cymbals and Sanres.

Glad I have a small basement, 12.5X16.5 so, I have no room to buy extra kit...See the pictures, I didn,t wasted time for sure...And I stated to take lessons in Drums, not regularly because it depends on my job at home (Yes, I work from home now, no more commuting and dealing with nasty colleagues!!!). The issue is I wanted to record the Drums kit and of course, in the samll room, the sound was not that great so, I had to think about installing panels, diffusers and i still need a long one behind the kit but now it sounds really good and it,s the people I invite who said that.

I have made a few "friends" on DRUM FORUM and DRUMMERWOLD, they are great guys, they accepted the "stranger" in me for not being at first a great drums player but being a Keys player at first but hey, we are musicians at first so, it has helped...And when I post, usually, I have learnt enough to give some advices. Well, you know me, I have accumulated 2 binerds of 3" depth about all the subjects above.

So, in january, my wife, in kind of a little crisis about me having all the house for me, told me, you use your "S..." or you sell it. Ok, so, I said why not trying to start again the band and I had a lot of great answer, more and with greater level than before!! SO, I'm back at the keys and as i was asking myself yesterday why I don't have any songs of Britney Spears in my setlist, normal, most of her hits are Pré 2010....I sill checked to see if "Toxic" was here and no, so, maybe i will learn finally how to sue the Nord Sample software.

But I have 1000 posts to go through, I,m not going to read all of them but at least, I will post on some few ones and all that top say is that, if you learn another instrument, you really open up a lot your musicianship.

That's it for today, happy to be back anyway.

Welcome back.
Well, it took me a while to find the best deals but yes but with my small personal activities, Studio , recording and band, I could deduct it so, 4000$ per year is given to me back by tax return so, not bad...And if lots of it got also amortized for 5 years, then, it continues over the next years...But during Covid I couldNt, justify any expenses, everything was stopped!

But in the meantime, the Stage 4 was released and the Prophet 10 and the new OBXa so, I still have to get the keys of my dreams when I was 15, well, they are still a dream for me but with some small inheritance, like what I used some of it for the past few years (When my Dad past away), plus some good deal when I left my company after 6 years to go to another one, it was ok...
